Well I was down at Yamaha today and they said hop on this new R1... It had some Yamaha ECM soft-ware on it and a Leo-Vance exhaust system on it... I think that was it... They said go try it you will love it.... I said OK, with a small smile. It has about 150 or so miles on the bike and tires, so they where scrubbed in. Hopped on the highway and just started to get the feel of this "bike".... For you guys that dont own a sport bike other than your FJR, (sport bike'ish) this thing is a SKUD missile underneath you. I dont ride sport bikes per say, unless someone just offers to let me ride there's once an awhile. This bike just feels like a hydrogen bomb between your legs. The bike doesn't even feel there... Feels like your riding the motor.... AKA: nuclear reactor

This thing is just crazy, CRAZY fast. You can be in second and wick the throttle and hit 70 in about one second. I was on the high way in I think 4th gear trying to keep it under 80.. (there are two more gears) There where two times that I had it again in 4th and there where some safe sections where I BLIPED the throttle for about 2 seconds and I looked down and was over 100.. It felt like I blipped the throttle for one second....

I clicked it up to fifth and sixth gear and Yamaha has done a great job of delivering the power even up in these gears... There where a few times I got off the high way to try 'slow' back roads to try the clutch and suspension. I came to a light off the high way and caught myself shaking my head in utter amazement of this machine....... Its really CRAZY fast and CRAZY powerful,, Have I said those words before? LOL

I'm sure many people will want to argue with me.. :) but **IMOP** this bike is just super crazy powerful for a normal ride. I really dont see how owners dont go to jail once a month on this thing.. Its one of the very few bikes that is HARD to ride the speed limit, no matter what the speed limit is.

Don't get me wrong, this bike is a BAD *** MoFO motorcycle ! ! Its just SO CRAZY it made an impression on me today ! I thought my FJR was kinda fast but when I returned the R1, and got on the FJR, I thought the FJR felt heavy, lack luster, and slow............ WTF

I would LOVE to get this on a track and hold open the throttle, but other than 1st or 2nd gear I dont know how you could really have fun on this monster and not get tickets or go to jail........ I think 2nd will do 100Mph at or near red line... four more gears to go...... LOL

WOW, what a machine !!! If you get a chance, go try one someday ! HOLY CRAP !

Here is the monster !

I also just test rode the all new R1 and I feel the same as you. You just can't ride this bike at normal speeds. It begs you to crank that throttle hard. I went way faster then I care to think about. I love the torque it has and the sound is awesome. The bike had Yoshi pipes. The fly by wire throttle is very responsive. It does react quickly. I would love for yamaha to put that cross plane motor in the FZ1. I would really have to buy one then.

I think the new FJR is going to be a detuned R1 "type" motor with allot of the tricks and goodies that are on the new Super Tenere..... This is just the core.... Of course it will have a whole new body style. IMOP, that's the hold up on the new FJR, they are adding all this stuff to the new FJR package to become the new leader in the sport touring market aswell.... They worked on the Super Tenere for four years. They are working on this new FJR now, and probably almost done...... Going to be another bike to talk about....... WOW

Had a 2003, Im sure they are a lot quicker now. Traded it in on my FJR I knew it was just a matter of time before I died on it. Saw indicated an 175 on the way home from work one day and didn't use much road getting there. That's when I made my decision, still miss it from time to time though.

No One you are gonna destroy everyones bank account if you keep this up

I'm not gunna buy one...... im not 20 anymore but that thing is SO far out side of "normal bike" Ill have to pass on it so I dont DIE !

I would look at one someday as a track bike only, (for me).... Just as a hobby..... Not as a street bike for me..... Its FUN, and CRAZY ! Go try it and report back....... Take two pairs of under drawers...LOL

just try to stay on one for more than an hour. That's the main reason I got rid of my CBR. After 90 minutes or so in the saddle I couldn't stand up straight.

Fun as hell, though.
