As a road bike cyclist that was hit by a hit and run driver 9-1-07 and left beside the road for dead at 6am on a saturday......yeah, these are a good idea.

Luckily I only shattered a bone in my arm, I could have been hurt much worse.

It's actually an interesting story HERE if anyone is bored.

I never thought about one of these for when I'm out riding the motorcycle....I think I'll pick one up.

I carry my wallet and phone with an I.C.E. listing when I'm in a vehicle, but this thing looks like a great alternative to my flimsy and gay-looking Medic-Alert bracelet that just fell off two weeks ago.

Ordered, and discounted. Thanks!

Now I gotta go find a necklace for my new dog tag....

I have had the U-Tag digital dogtag for a little while now, and never ride without it. My helmet bears stickers front and back advising that I am wearing the U-Tag device. I also have an I.C.E. listing on my cellphone.

Hoping to not need either method, but it gives others peace of mind when I am out riding.

I'm resurrecting a Zombie thread. Ordered two of these today, one for my wife and one for me. Between riding the motorcycle, road bicycle and mountain bike, trail running, and generally being a klutz, I want to give first responders as much ammo as possible to patch me up :)

We both chose the RoadID Sport model in yellow, but there's a bunch of options. I thought about a more stealthy black slim that I could wear everyday, but this one's more noticeable.

A coupon code of BG8683 got me $1 off the order.

I've used one of these for several years now. I even included an allergy on one line.

I have a GI-type dog tag with the pertinent info on it, but my comment is about a previous poster, Big Shasta. I read his whole 16-page thread on another forum about being a H&R victim on a bicycle. Good on ya for following through all the way to a conviction and settlement! But mainly, I want to give big props to the FJR Forum admins for NOT having the kind of crappy ads that popped up every single page on that Road Star forum his post was on. Ugh. Good job, admins!

My wife and I never get on the bike without ours on. Mine is the Interactive version and she wanted the original. I feel better knowing first responders or emergency room personnel can get the informtion they need if I cannot speak for myself. Seems as important to me as the rest of the gear we wear.

It worked very well after my accident, moreso for my friends who had to contact family to tell them what was going on. It was a godsend. I had the bracelet which I didn't like wearing because it rubbed on my wrist under jacket/gloves and bugged the crap out of me... so I had it in my tank bag which luckily they were able to find. I wear the dog tag kind now as it's easy/comfortable to wear... nestles right in the middle of my bosom and makes me feel safe. :D

On my wife's, I put a drug allergy and year of birth. I have no allergies but also put my blood type.
I had my blood type on the first one I had but can't remember if I included it on the other two (dog tag style and one on the boot laces). I'm more concerned about the allergy since it's to ibuprofen of all things.

I decided to not include that I'm an organ donor, since I don't want them getting any ideas.

I hadn't thought about the dog tag style, may need to revisit that. The wristband works better for running and cycling, but on the motorbike... dog tags may be best.

No doubt!

My first was a wristband I wore mostly while mountain biking. It bugged me, especially after getting sweaty and funky. The next was the type that loops around the shoelaces. I have that one attached to a pair of riding boots I wear on day rides with no threat of rain. The dog tag style works well but I did get the rubber guard to wrap the edge. I need to shorten the chain a bit but I keep forgetting.

Timely thread resurrection Pat L :) Just ordered two dog tags. These will pair nicely with the small USB flash drives containing all our medical and contact info we now wear.

I just got two of the icedevice kits. They come with ice forms and waterproof tubes with zipties to attach them.

Whatever you choose, it's important to have the info on you. It could save your life.
