I went out today for some two up riding and when I went to adjust the suspention I realized I'd picked up a nail in my rear tire.

Of course, it's Sunday and everyone is closed. I've been checking out some roadside assistance programs (since I now can't ride) and they are all very vague about flat tire repair on bikes, it looks like they all only offer towing. Has anyone had any experience with flat tire repair through any of these services?

I believe that most here just carry a plug kit and a compressor. I know I have both under my seat.

Sorry, no experience with any roadside service companys

Flats happen man and since you own a sport-touring machine Yamaha gave you gobs of extra room to pack several types of flat repair kits and compressor. Cross this relatively small bridge of experience and your view of the world and the range of the FJR will change...I promise!

I pack gear to hopefully deal with flats, but I also joined ROK (Riders Of Kawasaki) even thought I don't own a Kawi. They seem to offer some nice services for the traveling cyclist. And as a bonus, they set up a nice hospitality tent at Bike Week and Biketoberfest at the track. :)

Cheers,

Joe

always have carried the stop n go plugger tool. you can use the expensive co2 cartridges or get your self a 12 volt pump at wally world for around 10 dollars. I use my battery tender lead to power it up. cant count the number of repairs I have done both for myself and co-riders or the occasional stranded rider that I have come upon.

I looked into road side assistance as well. Ended up doing as the rest do, just carry what you need.

NC law does not allow for the repair of tubeless motorcycle flat tires. Tire must be replaced.

However, you yourself can repair the tire at will. Pack the kit and compressor as stated above.

AutoZone had the Slime compressor on sale a few weeks ago.

The embarrassingly sad part is that I do have a kit, I just never threw it on the bike :blush2: .

Hindsight is 20/20 but laziness is now. There's no i in team but there are two i's in idiot.

Needless to say, they are now on the bike and tires are ordered, I needed a new set anyway.

If you want to save yourself some coin on the CO2 cartridges, pick some up at the sporting goods section of your local Wally World or other discount store. I learned that quickly through my bicycle riding.

Cheers,

Joe

Or contact Odot, he has lots of spare ones. If you were at SFO you could have gotten some extras.
