Im going with the Road Smarts and will see how it goes. I have P2s now and the front tire is cupped and has a ridge line just like yours. Had Avons before and they cupped too. Beads and lead made no difference.....

QUESTION for all. How fresh should I expect new tires to be from a retailer? I received one tire that is two years old and am returning it. The others are 1 year old.

Thanks.

I was just asking because this thread is about RS IIs.

RS we already know about: Nice sticky rear tire...front RS sucks the wazoo.

I'm just going off the bolded part...And the fact that the RSII is brand new.
Thanks to brighter Forum minds today.....I ordered plain RS......not 2's , which is what I intended. From what I have read here on the forum, think Ill move off the RS 2's while I have the opportunity.

Have Roadsmart II tires even been out for two years? Are you sure they are Roadsmart IIs?
No...He's talking about regular RoadSmarts. I wouldn't care if the tire is 2 years old if it was stored inside. More internet myth making people, that don't know anything about tires, tire experts.
Turns out I WAS talking regular but was intending 2's. See other replies. Thanks for your opinion on Manuf. Date.

Just a fyi...and to avoid confusion, my review was based on regular Roadsmart tires...not Roadsmart II tires.

I am hoping the RS IIs are a great sticky tire that lasts along time.

I'm waiting for that nice review where someone tells me comparative stickiness with a PR2...and gives their RS2 tire mileage vs their usual PR2 mileage.

Got it...Thanks.

I'll be using my RS II's to do my trip across America in May. Should have a lot of data to share after I do that.

That will be a great test and , even better, a great adventure. Look forward to hearing from you. Enjoy and ride and stay safe but include the fun.

I had an opportunity today to do a 100+ MPH run (light traffic, loooooooong straight multi lane bridge, no cops). 105 MPH indicated on the GPS and 110 indicated on the spedo. The tires were smooooooth! :yahoo: I am really liking these tires so far.

I have about 1000 miles on a RSII rear so far,and like it. It seems to do everything the RSI did, but without the flat spot in the center. So far it's wearing even across the entire tire. I also had nice even wear with the new Z8's, but they didn't last more than 3000 miles for me. Hopefully the RSII will last longer.

Here is my rear RS II with 4572 miles on it.

Still loving the tires. The flat spot is courtesy of Kansas and Oklahoma. :glare:

I did not run the Road Smarts before. I ran a set of PR II's. I have just shy of 10K on them. They were still looking good, but I did not want to chance riding across America on them.

I'll be happier than a pig in shit if I can get 4500-5000 miles out of them. I was getting about 4000 mile out of the RS1. That flat spot on your RS2 is nothing compared to what the RS1 would look like. I did like the RS1, but it only went 4000 miles for me and the flat spot left a pronounced ridge you could feel when leaning, but once you got over the ridge they felt great.

I may be interested in trying the RS II once I'm done with my current Darkside experiment. I had a set of original Roadsmarts but the front wore funny and became a pig early in its life while the rear simply wore out in about half the mileage I got with a PR2. (Have run 3 sets of PR2's)

Michelin PR3, Bridgestone BT-023GT, Dunlop RS II, Metzeler Z8... - So many to try! Currently running the Z8 on the front and it doesn't excite me a great deal.

Probably has something to do with that car tire you have on the back. ;)
+1

I would NEVER run a car tire on a bike (unless it was a drag bike) and expect it to handle. I ran a set of the Z8's and they felt great, but they only went 3000-3500 miles.

Well I did try one (car tire). And it was a drag. :p

That's why I pulled that sucker off after only one long ride.

The bike never felt so good as when I had that new PR2 rear tire on. ;)

I DID refer to my CT as an experiment. I preferred it with the PR2 front compared to the Z8. That said, I fully intend to replace both tires with a set of MC tires once the CT is closer to done - another few thousand miles. I just have to decide whether I'll try something new or go back to the old reliable PR2. I'm interested in some reports on longevity and handling for the new RSII. I had no intention to turn this into a Darkside debate!

The first 1500 miles were great for my RS2's. After 1500 miles, my front started handling poorly and at 2000 miles. It was so bad, I thought there was something wrong with my bike. It was by far the biggest POS front tire I've ever run. I NEVER wear out my fronts, but usually replace them when the rear wears out(+/-3000 miles). I've run PR2's, Angels, Z8's, Powers, Roadsmarts, Contimotions, and Road Attack 2's. Replaced it with a Power and all's well with the universe now!

The rear still looks great and still handles and grips exceptionally.
