Mike (moosehead) and I took a weekend ride to the Highlands and ended up staying with my pal Brian at his cottage.

Our first stop was at the look-out at Minden, ont.

The colours we encountered were awesome.

We arrived at Brians cottage and he was nowhere to be found. So a quick phone call was made. Two hours later he showed up.

On the road again we crossed over into the Muskoka region and headed for Road 13. It wasn't the best day for it and the road was pretty chewed up in some spots. But, hey half the fun is getting there.

Thanks for tagging along.

You do a fellow frostback proud. Saturday was farkin' cold though! I shoulda went, I ended up getting into some bad fish on Sat. and spent the night creating a stink that knocked out cell phone reception for a 200 mile radius. I did get out for about 100 miles on Sunday though.

Its supposed to warm up mid-week. I'm booking off Friday, and depending on if my gf can get the time off, we'll be riding the Deer Trail/Hwy 129 either Friday or Sat. (6hr ride).

Thanks for the pics! Colours around Sudbury are running late, maybe around 40% or so. I'm hoping thier a little farther along outside of town. Pics'n flicks to follow.

EDIT: Confirmed for Friday, my boss is coming along as well on his WeeStrom. Your more than welcome to tag along.

I'm glad I could show you it. :yahoo:
Mmmmm whereabouts exactly is this Road 13?

Ha hahahahahha it's a secret.... you had to be there!!

Just kidding, it's just south of Port Carling. It's a class C road about 30kms long.
You sure this isn't the infamous Southwood Drive? I'm looking at google maps and thats the only twisty road of that length in the area (oh ya, and in case you've never been on it, Southwood is awesome!)

Oh ya, were all confirmed for Deer Trail/129 on Friday, there calling for a high of 17 and partly cloudy, come on up!

Yes Steve you are correct!
<DING!>

I haven't been on Southwood since they resurphaced it years ago. It was STELLAR with fresh pavement. So kinda rough now?

Gonna extend an invite to all of you guys if you can get up here for Friday. Deer Trail/129 is a great ride! Here's a Google Map of the route, disregard the estimated time. Its a 6/7 hr ride at a sane pace. Additionally, were not riding all the way to Aubrey Falls (though we should!), about halfway up to the 'big bridge' that crosses the Mississagi River (incredible view) for a roadside bbq.

Steve I would love to ride up but, now that hockey season has started I'm done. Between my Daughter,Son and myself hockey takes over our lives for the next 6 months.

Send your son and daughter to try outs for the Leafs. They need all the help they can get (again).

I had a great time! Saturday was a bit cool 9 deg C(48 deg F?) but at least there were no bugs. Great fall colours and great company.

Best breakfast of beans and potatoes EVER!
