So we left Kenora at the crack of 10 and blew through Dryden. Had to double back because we saw the biggest moose ever

Also in Thunder Bay we visited the Terry Fox Memorial. He was a crusader for a cure for cancer and made it to Thunder Bay on his cross country run to raise money. His run may have stopped here but his legacy carries on today in the form of the Terry Fox run for Hope. When I was 17 he ran through my town . He could run faster on his one good leg faster then I could on two. He has always been a hero to me and all fo Canada.

We also have mountains here in Northern Ontario. They may not be 14 000 ft. But they are still impressive.

And our lakes... man we got lakes!

We are still 2 days away from home. I cannot believe how big Ontario is.

We left Schrieber this morning and headed east on hwy 17. One of the sights we saw was this parking job on the side of the Trans Canada Hwy.

In White River we stopped at a huge thermometer. It shows that this is the coldest recorded temerature of -72f. in Ontario.

As we pulled into Wawa the fog was rolling in off Lake Superior. The girl at the welcome center said " We always get fogged in for some reason" Maybe because of the elevation and proximity to the lake eh? Anyway they have a huge Canada Goose at their entrance.

This pretty weather cell was just ahead of us on the hwy. We seemed to be right behind the rain so as the road got a little wetter we pulled off the hwy for the night early. 6:00 is the earliest we've stopped .

We have stopped 3 times looking for a rear tire. Apperently the FJR has an odd sized wheel. So in Sault St. Marie we struck rubber! but! it was ordered by an FJR owner in Wawa. So the shop called the guy and asked if he was in a hurry to pick this tire up (Wawa is 2 hours away) The guy says hey I'm just heading out the door. It's a long weekend here in Ontario and he wasn't giving up his tire to me. Next town that should have one is Sudbury. So as I sit now I am less than an hour from Sudbury. I'll pop in in the morning and hopfully we'll get a tire. If not we'll slowly make our way home as this will be the last leg of our journey.

Meanwhile Mitchy has gone on the hunt for the TV remote from our room.

We're home! 6 days after NAFO ended. We travelled a total of 8446Km. (5067miles) WOW Mitchy was great travel companion. I think she had a great time and will have many great memories and stories for her friends. We too the time to have lunch at Killarney, this place is 67km out into Georgian Bay at the end of a pier. The fish is caught fresh in the morning and seved til they run out. Todays catch was whitefish. We got drenched an hour before we got in the driveway. Very lucky on this trip as that was the worst rain we had. Our back tire held up ok although I'll be in the shop on Monday for some new ones. The bike ran perfectly the whole trip. It's in the garage and all our gear is put away for the next trip. (Nova Scotia in September CFR ) If I had of noticed that EOM was this weekend we would have gone there first. Oh well.

It was great to see all the familiar faces on this trip. Meeting new friends is always great too. I'll see some of you at CFR. To those of you that followed along at home I hope I kept your interest and made it feel like you were here.

Until next time

Rob

Thanks so much for sharing with us. Great ride, great pictures. :thumbsupsmiley:

I'm sure there's a lot of girls out there that would kill to have such an opportunity to travel with dad like that. She's one very lucky girl. :jealoussmiley:

Glad you two made it home safe. Will be looking forward to you sharing the next trip with us. :smile3:

Great reporting Rob. You did a great job with this report. Say hi to Mitchie for me. She did a great job being a passenger for such a long trip. Hope she had some gnarly tunes to play during the trip so she wasn't too bored on the back.

Glad you both got home safely. Have fun at CFR. :clapping:

Nice to meet you at NAFO Mitchy and good to see you again Rob. Glad your ride home was a good one. Coming to CFR-3 in BC next year?
