I'm heading south on Mar 1st. My friend Brian and I are trucking the bikes to Gate City Virginia. I will be riding my FJR and he will be riding a 650 Strom. Our trip intinerary is very loose. Camping will be the main thing. We'll hit Daytona for a day or 2 then it's off to the Keys. Back up through the Everglades. Gotta stop and do some kayaking in this area. Meandering up the coast. If all goes well we are going to follow the coast around to Brownsville TX. Unless we get side-tracked or find something funner to do.Will definately make it too NewOrleans and up to the Dragon.Estimated travel time is about 3 weeks. Watch for us.

I'll try and post as we go. If not I'll put up something when I get home.

If ya get near the dfw metroplex give us a ring.

Be safe out there, kids.

If you stay on the coast, you have to pass through my town.

Well, not mine, in the sense that I own nothing here but my little corner lot, but you know what I mean.

US 98 east of here, is nice, even quaint. If you stay on the coast to Panama City, you'll want to move inland then.

West of here is a traffic nightmare, and pretty much flat, straight, and suburban (lights, 45-mph zones, malls, Wal-Marts) all the way to Pensacola, so I'll gather some suggestions for you if you like.

You cant miss St Augustine The oldest city in Florida or Cape Canaveral and the space center...or even Disney LOL The keys are beutiful and the Glades also nice then Naples and all the nice places. :yahoo: I live in Port Canaveral near the space center. I will look for you

If your going to be in the area of the Dragon, Don't miss the Cherohala Skyway. It runs from Tellico Plains, TN to Rt 129 near Robbinsville, TN.

If you make a left at the East end of the Skyway it will put you right on the Dragon. Watch your speed on the Dragon, lot's of LEO's!

Have a great trip!

JW

Thanks for the trip suggestions guys. I'm going to try and stop at as many places as we can. We are looking to freeload in as many backyards as possible so feel free to send me your info.

Rob

ps we're house trained.

Once you get west of Galveston, the route to Brownsville is pretty flat and desolate. There are some nice towns, but the riding is not great. If you get that far and are looking for somewhere interesting to ride, I would suggest heading away from the coast and towards the Texas hill country all around San Antonio. There are some amazing roads in that area! The ride is the same distance as the ride to Brownsville, and if you go another 350 miles you can hit Big Bend National Park (also very cool). If you would like some more detailed route information in the hill country let me know, or post in the Texas section and you will get many good suggestions.

Hi Rob,

Didn't you know?? Only pansies truck their FJR's anywhere. I've got a great set of snow tires and chains you can borrow(not V rated of course)

I am soooo jealous. I've had the itch for weeks now. Thats the itch to get back on my bike, for all you up and coming comedians.

Ride safe, but more importantly have fun

Wow, reading this really makes me want to do that trip....................oh ya, I am. Leaving on April 11th.

I'll let Rob stir up all the LEOs for me.

Hey Mike

You should be jealous. I'll be thinking of you all when I'm down there.
