Number Two daughter's Boy Friend called me today, said he bought a New Honda CBR1000RR and he's stuck at work, can't get off in time to pick it up. Could I do him a favor and pick it up from the dealer and ride it home for him, while this was extremely inconvenant for me I decided to bite the bullet and help the kid out.

Got to the dealer, we go down the check list, tires aired up, check, chain, lub and adjusted, check, gas, full tank, well alrighteey then. Knowing how important it is to scub in new tires and not run a new engine at constant RPM, I choose the twisty way home along the river bluffs. altho this would take alot longer, I thought this was the least I could do for maybe a future Son in Law.

I did get it to his house, delivered it without a scratch, tires are all scrubbed in edge to edge, engine never run at constant RPM, even had some gas left in the tank. I tell you, I am such a nice guy.

The sacrifices we make for our children...... ;)

You are one funny dood. How can you post with that tongue so firmly planted in yer cheek? :)

Glad you could help him out. Was he grateful? B)

Yeah, he was thankful, little disappointed he only had enough gas to get to the nearesr gas station tho <_<

How are your knee's and arse I heard the CBR can be hard on both.Chris
Wrist and hips is where it got me, it was a hoot to spend an afternoon with, but I will most definitely be staying with the FJR and VFR.

How was the torque? Looking at the comparos last year it seemed it had my dream engine... until the new R1 came out, at least. :)

Reading the comparos last week, it seems it may still be the 'dream engine'...as the new R1 sounds awesome, but lost a little power and torque...

Of course, this is problem may be more an artifact of this being the first year of what is essentially an all-new engine configuration (certainly very 'new' to Yamaha) so perhaps little tweaks to the fuel and spark mapping can find those wayward ponies...

Crap, now I have to do some googling and see what success people have had tweaking the new R1...

Stupid internet.
