What to do with a $70k Ducati Superbike?

Here's what Roland Sands has done:

WOW!! Someone turned Kathy Ireland

Congratulations on the fine choice! :eek:mg: :eek:mg2: :eek:mg: :puke:

Perfect example of "Just Because We Can Do a Thing, Does Not Mean We Should Do a Thing"

Yeah, I agree.

At first I thought they'd taken a wrecked bike and built this one....but to ruin a rolling piece of art?

Oh well, to each his own!

It is a cool idea but I'd have tried to find a different donor bike to start from.....IF I had the talent to begin with.

Roland Sands ruins another beautiful bike. I don't understand how this guy stays in business. Even his helmet graphics that he does for Bell are awful IMO. I suppose his popularity is that rich folk can get an overpriced, unique, only one made bike.

These guys that have made a living selling driveway ornaments to exceptionally ignorant rich people are trying to transform into race bike builders. Unfortunately for them actual performance bikes have to meet some objective criteria instead of the entirely subjective "looking cool" standard they formerly had to meet. Should we be surprised that a $70,000 track bike could be modified into a (drum roll please ..... ) track bike?

Very few of these "custom" builders will survive. there will still be a small number of well heeled stupid people that will pay exhorbiant sums for driveway art but most of the so called builders will end up in the unemployment line.

good riddance.

Haha...My brother and I know a guy who had a pretty successful bike building business. As was the norm, they were all very pretty custom choppers. He still has a few, and about a year ago, we were offered two bikes that were initially stickered around $70k for $20k.

Well, I didn't have an extra $20k just lying around, or room in my garage for a queen. And if I did, I would spend it on a bike I could ride the **** out of.
