A major tank slapper and resultant crash in final qualifying led to 3 broken bones in his hand. He says he has never missed a race in his career and is determined to race. Decision by the doctors on raceday morning.

Well that sucks.

Hopefully next year Rossi will work out the tire issue and get his yamaha on par with Stoner's Ducatti

He will race, he will want to score 1 point to finish second.

If he doesn't, Pedrosa will take second in the champion ship.

Just hope that Yamaha gets their act together for next year and get a good bike and another good rider.

Yamaha rest all their hopes on one rider, Rossi, without him Yamaha have got nothing, a one bike team.

I would agree with you Shadow, but Rossi doesn't want another good rider on his team. He wants exactly what he gets from Colin, a rider that is very good at testing and consistent. That way Rossi doesn't get upstaged and has someone he can count on to give good tire and motorcycle feedback to the engineers.

Michelin needs to step up their game to compete next season. I think they got caught off guard by how good Bridgestone is and couldn't catch up this year. With the new tire rules this year they couldn't just go and fly in different tires like years past on Friday night/

Should be interesting next year to see how it shakes out.

If I was involved, I would tell Rossi that it is team Yamaha, not team Rossi.

If they let him dictate the terms then so be it, but there is only one competitive Yamaha in the field, and that is bad.

I hope Lorenzo does give Rossi some competition with another Yamaha.

This year the MotoGP has been boring, it is like a 2 wheeled version of F1, too much like a procession.

The Ducati has caught them all out for performance and Michelin seem to be struggling.

I hope that next year it gets back to close racing, don't care who wins as long as the racing is close.

My wife hates Lorenzo because he is so cocky. I think he has that genius streak that makes a rider dominate, with Stoner already in that mode you never know we may see fireworks there. I dont believe that Rossi will compete again next year. The Yamaha was too far behind.

The team have said that they will let him decide if he wants to race if the docs say OK.

Just seen a crash in the 125 practice the rider was wearing an airbag round his shoulders, a collar bone protector is how it was described, looks silly but works.

Rossi will ride with 2 broken bones in his right wrist and one finger broken.

He will start 17th on the grid. What does he have to gain? He can't win the title or the race.

How totally stupid can you be? Probably down to 20% strength for throttle and front brake.

I remember a top Irish 250 rider called Tom Heron doing a similar trick with a broken right thumb at the North West 200 in Ireland.

He was killed in the race when he failed to brake for a corner at 100mph plus.

All Rossi needed was one point to secure second place in the points standings. That would have required him finishing 15th or better if Pedrosa won the race. Rossi was up to 14th and thought he could get a few more positions when the bike quit.

He's a racer, and has never not started a race or finished lower than second place in the points standings during his entire career. Pretty typical mentality for top level athletes, so I don't know that there is anything stupid about it.
