Dear Friends,

I’m organizing a trip to the USA (Route 66) for Portugal’s Yamaha FJR 1300 Club members.

We are planning to travel in May or June 2008. We are a group of about 42 persons in 24 bikes (provisional inscriptions). At first I was thinking to organize it by myself, as I did so many times before in long trips in Europe, but with so many people I though it is better to get professional help from a motorcycle travel and tours specialist company in the U.S.A.

I made a Google search but I found so many companies that I get confused, so I kindly request if you can help me, leting me know about reliable companies that you might know that work on this kind of adventures.

If by any change they also rent FJR bikes, that would be fantastic !

Many thanks in advance and best regards.

Don't know of anything special about Rte 66 but just did a Google search "Route 66 map" and it has quite a few things of interest.

One of them which seems to have promise is the below link.

Good luck,

Chester

Most that I have seen are HD rides. I live close to the "Mother Road" and ride it often. The longest stretch is here, Seligman to Topock AZ.

Great ride and the railroad I work for runs right along it.

There is someone on the Zumo forum planning his own ride and soliciting feedback. You might find some good info there and also by collaborating with him.

Topic is in the "POI's and Loading" section and called "A Route 66 Adventure...well sorta - Need Waypoints/POI's"

Dude, you can TOTALLY pull this off yourself! What aspect of the logistics are you unsure of?

Hi

My tour (solo) to the USA next year is being organised by FlyRideUSA. They are based in Bend, Oregon which is quite a way to the North but my 20 night tour includes the section of Route 66 mentioned by hoghead. They can organise self guided tours or you can go for the fully guided option. Although they are quite expensive they have a good range of bikes available including FJR's.

I had considered arranging everything myself (inc shipping my own bike over) but in the end decided on letting someone else arrange my hotels etc and I would think that for such a large group an tour operator is a good idea unless people here can recommend places to stay and a good hire company.
