Actually, much more advanced than aircraft engines. Due to the FAA's policy of "beyond ultra conserative" posture on anything new and the expense required to bring improvements into acceptance, pilots have only recently seen now old tech such as electronic ignition. Continental and Lycoming require over 360 cubic inches to extract 180 hp. (30.51shp/liter) Even at that low stress they are only rated at 1,800 hrs between overhauls and cost $27,000! By comparison the FJR motor is rated at 111.78shp/liter (3 times as much) and has been regularly known to go 200k miles (about 4,500hrs)receiving probably 1/2 the care and feeding of the aircraft powerplants. Knowing Yammy if you bought one without the bike they would probably cost the same. :glare:These 'new' engines are just incredible--compared to even 20 years ago. It's more like a modern aircraft engine than anything....
