First, just wanted to say that I contacted Bob Hole the organizer of this event - and received his OK to post here -

Second - I wasn't sure which section was appropriate to post in - so Admin, if you see fit, please move it !! Oh yeah - Thank you.

Here's the link to the announcement on the IBA forum site: Chiliburgers in Idaho

Please review the link - and follow the instructions there-in should you wish to attend.

The hotel used for Saturday night sleep (and whatever OTHER activities you choose to do... )

Super 8 Motel - Boise

I-84 Exit 53 at Vista Ave

2773 Elder St

Boise, ID 83705-4702 US

There's no 'group rate' or anything like that - you just book your room, and show up.

The restaurant address is:

101 Riverside Dr

Horseshoe Bend, ID 83629

Please notify Bob as per the instructions in the post.

See ya all there !!!

Robert Burns.

And so my scheme sinks.

My Dear Wife just informed me that our daughter (who is starting 9th grade, and on the drill team) will be marching in her first parade on Saturday, October 6th.

And the parade is NOT in Horseshoe Bend, Idaho.

Drat.

Those of you that can make this - eat a fully blown, quadruple layer with cheese chiliburger for me - and don't forget the fries - with chili, of course. And some habanero hot sauce. Wash it down with your beverage of choice.

Don't forget your Lipitor afterwards.

Oh, so a real curve you've thrown into the mix .......Who's going to horsehoe bend?? and who's going to the parade?? I'm on the fence, likely a last minute decision.

Not me....

I was one of the original attendees... there was about a dozen or so of us for the first one in 1998.

It *used* to be a LD gathering, a routine RTE event.... but over the years, it has largely turned into a local harley fest.

The last time I attended was 2003..... when I arrived, the parking lot was a sea of chrome and black leather. I saw maybe a handful of LD guys, and even most of them were Hardley or Wingabago drivers.....

Still, it's a nice ride there if it doesn't rain.... or you don't get stuck behind a 1/4 parade of the loud-pipes-saves-lives crowd.... :glare:

I included Horseshoe Bend as one of my "corners" during my SS2K simply because it was an LD "Event". That's the ride that ended up with me finishing across Jungo Rd and ending in Gerlach just in time for Bruno to comp me a Guinness right at closing time. I suspect I looked like I needed a drink after spending 4 hours on that last 100 mile stretch of road.

On another ride, I stopped by Horseshoe Bend to leave a note for someone who I suspected would be at the next RTE. Unfortunately too much time passed in between and the owner forgot to deliver it. It would have cracked me up for *that* plan to come together.

Sad news to hear it's been compromised by the leather and chrome crowd.

I haven't noticed much leather/chrome types in the last 3 years that I've been there. Sure, there are lots of Wingabagos, not to mention ST's, RT's, GS's, Stroms, and others. The cruiser crowd hardly merits an honorable mention for attendance. Seemed like everone I met, talked to, & hung around with were all very much LD oriented.

Edited to add this parking lot picture from 2005.

Meah. Maybe the Hardly crowd moved on to find more alcohol....

In any event, y'all have fun.....

Well I need to go to Jordon Valley, OR and its only 100 miles away so I'm going to do both at the same time.

Anyone want to share a room Saturday night?

Okay, Rogue, I'm dying to know; why do you NEED to go to Jordan Valley? Quite an interesting little spot in the world.

Well, what the hey..... there is suppose to be a fair amount of sun between the Tri-Cities and Horseshoe Bend this Saturday..... unless wife or children demand my presence at home, perhaps I might skip down to southern Idaho for this after all.

The FJR is currently down, so if I go at all, it'll have to be on the Blackbird....... poor 'ol Blackbird, still has all it's battle scars from BBG Hell Week.... B)

Good guy to room with but make sure you bring your ear plugs! :winksmiley:

I'm in, but headed right home after so I can watch the Seahawks kick some Steeler ass this time in the Super Bowl rematch on Sunday morning :fans: (ducking for cover).
