Hi all

Would like to know how many of you guys are running different branded front and rear tires and for what reason.I recall reading a few posts somewhere a while ago where a few where doing this.

Regards

Gazza

Lots of people do it. I've done it a couple times. Usually because a rear tire made by someone is great but the frint one sucks.

Lots of guys in the east would run a Road Smart rear and a Perelli Angel front. Sort of whatever suits you best!

I've alway run same brand tires on front and rear. But this last time around, based on experiences of others on the forum, I'm running Bridgestone T-30 front and Michelin PR4 rear. So far, so good, and I'm liking the improved handling (more neutral) than new PR2/3 matched tire sets I've run in the past.

YMMV, but I don't think so.

Are you crazy? Next thing you will be wanting to install a car tire on the back. Then, you will surely die a fiery aluminum and plastic death.

I just cannot understand how this one got to NEPRT so quickly.

It is not like it was ever discussed before...

Contrary to what the Moto Mags tell us, it is perfectly normal, perfectly safe, and very common to run two different brands of tires. Or perhaps the same brand but two different models for front and rear. I personally will be running a PR3 rear with a PR4 GT front very soon.

I have runs several sets of Bridgestone T30 front and Michelin PR4 rear. It is a good wearing and handling combination.

Canadians do it a lot. Mostly because they have a tendency to run right over **** in the road, leading to whatever take-off I have in the garage at the time being paired with whatever they have left on the back.

Well, I have had a couple getoffs with same brand tires front and back, and no getoffs with individually selected tires front and back. So yeah, no more "matched" tires for me. Scary.

So nothing is going to blow up if you use, say a T30 in front and a PR2 in back.

Whatever you do, please do not mix a tire made in France with a tire made in Germany. If you do, then WWIII will break out right around your transmission.

Yeah, but that's ok, because the French tire will run away and an American tire will come in and take its place. Again!
Dang, I was thinking almost exactly the same thing and u beat me to it!!

Props to u Zilla.

There have been a few occasions where I was on a trip and

didn't have enough rear tire left to make it back home.

No problem, find a dealer, see what they have in stock,

have a new tire mounted and continue on my way.

Never worried about not matching the front, if I couldn't.

I've had 021s, 023-GTs, Z6s, Roadsmarts, T-30s, PR2s, STs

and probably a few others and have never been

concerned about a mid-match.

I usually buy tires in "sets". They don't always end up on

the bike that way.
