sorry to hear your selling but good luck with the new machine!!! now...how much for the bar ends?
They were $155 + s/h. Still perfect, not a scratch or smudge on them. So how's $100 shipped?

KJ, you're a fookin' liar..... secretly not telling us that Steamer was just putting on a show playin' possum in "not keeping up", and you need six cylinders to stay ahead of him...... c'mon tell the truth!
In reality though, when anyone has two capable sport tourers in the barn, I'd think one of them isn't going to get ridden much.... I certainly wouldn't keep two if it was me....... take the Feej cash and get a '14 Super Tenere!
lmao, Yous border buddies have such good imaginations

Yeah, I really thought I was going to hop back and forth and enjoy each ST bike within their own qualities. UR right tho, a cross-over dual sport bike would be a good compliment. Maybe next year or so, I need to recover, and when I do, it will be an affordable, dependable J-Bike. Not sure where the spare time is going to come for these ride trips however?

And BTW Ray, you sir are the culprit to me going out and buying this new bike. After I read your "Hey, look what followed me home today!" thread, I went out shopping that same weekend. So my friend, I blame you! (well, I told Debbie sum Canadian feller convinced me to go out and shop!" lol. Don't worry, when she meets ya, step back a few is all :-Q

I too just moved from the FJR to a K1600GT. Words can't really describe how much happier I am on the BMW. It's like this bike was made for me.

So far, there don't seem to be many interested buyers for my Feej. Hoping that changes once tax returns start rolling in. Good luck with your sale!

I hear you on moving on from the FJR. I have had my eye on the R1200RT for a long time. That bike is just beautiful. However, my bike is paid off and I am very happy with its capabilities. I gotta love the one I'm with I guess. Also, I think I'd be a little more afraid to dig into the Beemer with the farkles like I have with the FJR.

In any case, congratulations on your new purchase. It's a beautiful ride!

I forgot to say in my post. Do u know what BMW stands for? Bring My Wallet

"Bring My Wallet "?

Nah, BMW = Bikes Made Weird

Not that being made weird is bad! The 'busa was weird once too. We just didn't know that was what 200 MPH motorcycles should look like...

SkySoldier, For what it is worth, I would strongly suggest you not purchase a R1200RT. I have two riding buddies with R1200RT's and both have had final drive failures. One of the bikes failed twice. BMW would not stand behind any of the failures due to bikes being out of warranty. The issue is design. They have no drain or fill plugs and no vent tower. The dumb *** who approved such a thing should have been made to pay for every failure. This problem has been very well documented in motorcycle magazines and forums. BMW in their arrogant nature will not acknowledge there is a problem. There is currently a recall on 2005-2011 R and 2005-2012K models. Issue: Fuel Pump. Consequence: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire. Source: Motorcycle Consumer Mews March 2014 issue. I saw in another publication rating motorcycles by reliability/mechanical failure. Top rated was Yamaha, Honda, Harley Davidson, and last BMW. Bring My Wallet may have real meaning!!

I'd have done the same but replace the Feej with an FZ09 with a suspension upgrade and have a lightweight hooligan bike to book end the Beemer.

Yeah, I never saw it coming that I would lose total interest in my beloved Feej

...damn expensive Beemers, look what ya did to me!

Thanks, I know the used market on FJR's has tanked. With all the guys migrating to the ES (and with good reason, awesome bike!) it's beginning to be a flooded "get what you can get" market.

After dis-assembling (partially) to farkle up my K16-GTS, I'd say this is BS. It seems more normal to me than the FJR.

(eg) The no.1 heaviest item per cu.in. is the battery! (besides direct engine/parts). BMW sits it center, right under the seat (normal for me) and where it should be! That high and off center, way up in the right corner for such a heavy item is WEIRD! Maybe that's why the GTS is heavier but the balance and play on the machine acts lighter than the FJR? hmmm. I do like Yamaha, but those Japanese taint all that. ...nuff said!

Art,

Many thanks for the info. I wasn't aware of any issues with them until I read your post. Still,

You have to admit they look pretty good.

For me, reliability and practicality trumps all. Same applies to cars.
