Those were great pics! I've been shooting airshow pictures for nearly 30 years, since the Thunderbirds were in F-4 Phantoms and the Blue Angels were in A-4 Skyhawks. The shots linked above were great to see. I like shows on the water, because you can get higher than parts of the show!
Picture quality is also why I want a digital SLR for Christmas. Film processing sucks so bad these days, you never know what color anything is gonna be, and it's always grainy.
I borrowed a Nikon D70 in March for a Blue angels show, and got this:
And took my Nikon 8008 film SLR to Pensacola in November, and got this:
And if you think the sneak pass in his series was extra low because it was over water, have a look at this (the pass is made at 50 feet, and about 720 miles per hour!):
In both the film pics, the sky was actually bluer that day than the March pic. Film processor "corrected" the color balance for me, thanks loads. These are repaired as best I can with Photoshop, you really don't want to see what they delivered to me, and you don't want to see the full-size pics, either. Grainy enough to make you cry.
The diamond pics show how much the formation gets tightened during the year. The March show was the second or third show weekend, and the November show was the final demonstration.
So if everybody on the forum Paypals me a buck. . . . . I can get my camera and a couple pieces of glass. Thanks!! :yahoo:
(Um, not an actual solicitation for funds!!!!)
