Your right, I didn't see the other option for the $299 price. What's the difference between CarbonFX and Griptex?
WS-560F-09 - Griptex, Black Welt, Black Trim

$299.95

WS-560F-18 - CarbonFX, Metallic Silver Welt, Black Trim

$319.95

WS-560F-19 - CarbonFX, Black Welt, Black Trim

$299.95

WS-560F-NS* - Non-Standard Configurations

Optional Colors: Cobalt Blue, Custom

$319.95*

*Restocking fees apply

SS-731R - Do-It-Yourself Matching Rear Seat Cover:

$39.00

The price showing on the Sargent site is $349.95 for the WS-560-19??

Where did the $299.95 come from?

Start at the beginning of the thread ;-)

The $299.95 was a promotional price for those that registered with Sargent last year that they were interested in the seat and was a limited time deal.

I'm curious how long it took Sargent to process your order. I sent my seat Feb. 5; it arrived at Sargent Feb. 9. Just yesterday, April 3, I got an e-mail saying my seat would be shipped back to me that day. That's seven full weeks. Seems slow and seems slower than the predicted 3 to 4 weeks stated at the time I sent the seat.
I didn't send my seat to them. Sargent uses their own seat pan. I ordered via phone on March 22 and they shipped my seat in 1 week which is what they said they would do.

As of this morning (4/16/2007) they estimate the rear seat/backrest won't be released until late June :(

Did 1,600 miles over 4 days on my new Sargent seat including a 600 mile final day. It is without question the finest seat I've ever owned. Absolutely never thought about the seat the entire time. That's never happened before!

Great testimony! What material did you go with?

I got the CarbonFX which looks good and feels good but DON'T drag your boot across it. Despite being warned by them not to do that, I managed to do it 4 times. Those ain't coming out.

I may send mine back at some point to be re-covered. I like the really pronounced, raised, diamond pattern I've seen on some BMW Sargents. I don't know what they call it.

What were the folks at Sargent thinking when they chose this material? I wonder how many people with this seat material don't have marks on it. After all, what's the likelyhood that you'll never hit the seat with your boot? They should have at least used the "warning label" that they send with the seat on their website so that prospective buyers can make a decision before it's in their hands.

I just got off the phone with Sargent and was able to make the change from CF to GripTex. They said I called "just-in-time". I really wanted the CF for looks but not if it's going to mark that easy and the marks are permanent.

I don't know which is worse. They already have a warning about the Griptex on their website:

"GRIPTEX – Because of its high texture, deep depressions and reduced surface area, GRIPTEX (also known as basket weave) is perceived as being a cooler surface in hot weather. While many people like the textured feel and look of the material, extra care may be needed during cleaning to get down into the “grooves”. Even though the material is completely water-proof, these “grooves” on the surface can temporarily trap water, making the surface a little more difficult to dry."

bloody hell Todd - my wife's gonna kill me.

I just tried my Sargent for the first time today. I'd have to say that it is well worth the money. It's slightly "dished" which eliminates any unwanted sliding forward but still allows you to move around as much as you would like. This was a good choice for me.

My farkling ways have been the ruination of several marriages. Be thankful I don't forward you links to incredible bikes being dumped at crazy prices like I do for some of my real "friends" :)

Did you have to "break" it in at all before your 1600 mile ride? I just went on a 350 mile ride. It was the first one since getting the new Sargent seat. It felt better than the stock seat, but I was still uncomfortable after about 150 miles. After getting off and resting for a little bit I was able to go another 150 miles. I was hoping for a little more distance without worrying about the seat. Do I just need to use it a little more?

Nope but I did ride it to work every day for a couple of weeks. It just works perfect for me. Seats are just one of those things are very subjective however. Now if I could just get my feet a bit lower to relieve my knees...

I got my seat on Friday. Unfortunately it came the day my buddies and I rode out from Temecula, CA to Laughlin,NV for lunch. Have only ridden to work so far, and it feels like a keeper. I got the carbon FX also and it does scuff easily, had one on my FZ1 and you can't get the scuff marks out. But it looks good!
