I just sold my 05 wing for an 06 FJR!!, IMHO there's nothing to touch the wing for comfort, I did the 3 flags classic on it last year awesome bike, however, the other half does'nt like riding so I decided to try the FJR for touring, I need to make it more comfortable though, I'm 5'9" 200lbs 30" IL I've got the heli triple clamp coming and I'm looking at the different windshield and seat options on this site before buying. Good luck with the wing, I know you're going to love it.

Just wanted to say goodby and thanks for all the great information and tech tips from my fellow members.3 weeks ago, I was offered a deal on the FJR in a trade for an 07 Goldwing I couldn't pass up. I really loved the FJR for solo riding, but found that 2-up for long periods was just beating my poor little wife too much, despite different seats and pads. Even for me, it became a chore after 3 hours in the saddle and always felt pretty beat after long rides. Make no mistake, I still think it is the best sport tour bike out there bar none, but the type of riding I am doing now with the longer rides and daily commute, the wing is the way to go for me. Take care and ride safe.

Warchild, keep up the great work on this board. It is the best one out here.
Defiant,

I'm sure you will like the new GL1800. Did you get the ABS with all the goodies, including the Navi, heated butt bucket, etc.? What color? I bought an 06 ABS this spring just for the hell of it and what a bike. Just blows me away. I still have my 03 FJR which I also enjoy. There are quite a few of us FJR/GL1800 owners out there. Too bad you couldn't keep both.

Here's a nice forum, much like this forum: GL1800 Riders Good luck with your new bike and enjoy.

Enjoy the new ride. Our roadcaptain and his wife in our CMA chapter went road sofa and they love it. Ah, the spice of life. Better to have loved and lost, to not have ridden at all. Be safe out there. :D PM. <><

Good luck!

You'll love the wing. I almost added one to the stable last summer for an 8k mile trek but the wife said she'd KILL me if I went to 3 bikes and I couldn't part with anything.

I got the dark red Audio/Comfort/Nav package. Non-ABS. I could have kept the FJR, but I have never been one to keep more than one bike in the stable at a time. I have been very suprised at how nimble it is.

My wife rides an FJR and I ride a Wing for different reasons

The wing's performance can be tweaked with a few simple suspensions mods

1. Works Performance rear shock/spring rebuild ($600) Stock sprin iis 900 lbs I run a 1400 now

2. Race Tech or Traction Dynamics front suspension work ($600)

3. Windbender Windshield from Firecreek Accesories - no more buffeting

4. If you get a chance for long solo rides try to pick up a Ron Smith Fuel Cell. Ron died 2 years ago but ocassionally they show up for sale on LD Rider

The Wing will always be a large heavy bike but the suspsension tweaks will really improve your riding pleasure especially 2 up

If you don't mind me asking, where did you end up buying and what was the deal?

BTW, my dad and I are planning on riding the 3 Flags next year (it will be his fourth). He last rode it on his Wing in 2005.

The wing is an awesome bike for what it's intent is, second to none. My problem was that I felt old riding it (it is a sportbike on steriods) and my wife hated it. We would go out on it and less than a mile away she'd ask me to go back and get the boss hoss. Cross winds buffetted the crap out of here. I sold it and got the fjr (which I wanted in the first place but went to the wing for her). She told me not to sell the fjr (though she rode on it only once and said she needed a backrest, since then I bought one), something I had no problem obeying. There is no way I'm selling this bike, as long as I am healthy enough to ride.

Funny thing, I feel old every morning when I get up  Riding the Wing doesn't seem to effect that old feeling one way or the other, but it does put a big smile on my face. Plan on taking the FJR up into the Rockies today. Maybe it will make me feel young again  I know it will make me feel fast...

p.s. Dittos on selling the bike(s), although I wouldn't mind adding to the stable. Maybe a nice retro like a Thruxton.

I am laughing because i am sitting trying to decide if I want to take my wing out today or my FJR. My wing, for a 900 lb bike, handles like a dream. Nothing compares to it in its class.

I did find that the "Wing" groups around me (Utah) tended to think a ride was from Denny's to Village Inn. That was just not my style. But, Generally I ride alone (no groups)

CONGRATS on the wing, U like to Farkle?? They make more crap for that bike........ I swear. Try www.wingstuff.com. I bought them a new building last year  Their service is second to none and thier prices are right in there. They are part of CycleGiant

What can one expect to pay for a new, reasonably well equipped wing?
Hard to say, I got no ABS, they did not have Heated seats, or bult in NAV. Mine is an 05. If I ws getting one now. I would get it loaded with the factory stuff, less heated grips, less heated seat. I put Kurakyn grips and had a seat made. I WOUL get the built in Nav, and the ABS

The rest, well, gettum farkled after you gettum. There are SOO manything to do to them. You need to ride it and let it grow on you. Then decide.

Look at MSRP, take off about 2k for hard negotiations, 1-1.5k for simple negotiations, 3k for flying to the cheapest wing you can find and driving it back.

I got 1k off mine but it was worth having a decent relationship with a local dealer.

Really, there is SO!! many farkles, Buy one loaded with the major systems (noted above) get to know it, then decide whaddya want for it

Just my opinion
