I doubt any doctor that's not on the take, and is aware of what BOTH together can do to your perception, would write both scripts, my guess is that he was seeing more than one doctor.

Alcohol is the only drug that can kill you on a cold turkey withdrawal, and it's pretty readily available if you want to relapse.
