I went shopping 2 Saturdays ago (weather was ~OK) on my Feej. Wewere looking for a new hi-viz rain suit for my g/f (hard to find a womens "size 1" or as the Mfgrs. tag them "Diva size" lol. My Yami dealer had some nice Joe Rocket ones but I wanted to see what "the overpriced dealer" had to offer, so down the road we go to my Beemer dealer....

Well it was helmet Saturday come to find out. Basically Reps strut'n their "Lids". I always heard good (and expensive) things about the Schuberth's. I immediately see the rep and she see's that we have bike gear on. Fits me into a white (not my color choice) C3 and tells me to take it for a spin. I oblige easily enough, g/f wants to wander the showroom. CYA!

1st "like" impressions...

Like holy crapola is this helmet QUIET!

Like almost a floating moment in outer-space :)

Like who needs earplugs anymore!

Got back to the dealer, now the bad news. $700 buck-o-las. Figured I would come home and find them on the trusted ole Internet wayy cheaper. NOT! (much anyway). Looks like $629 is the average "low" price. The C3 was very comfortable as well but did I mention it was soo friggen QUIET! ;) ....It's a lot of moolah and I already have 3 other helmets?

I've had my C2 for going on 7 years now, so it is due for replacement. However, as much as I like the C2, the cost for a C3 is just not in the budget right now. My C2 fit me perfectly, but I never found it to be supremely quiet. I would be interested in trying a C3 just to see if there's a difference. Of course, I run the risk of a reaction like yours and then needing to convince the accountant that $700 isn't a lot of money...

Schuberth just came out with an update to the C3 callled the C3 Pro - a great helmet made even better. Fixed some of the fitment problems some where experiencing with the original C3 and made it even more quiet!

Revzilla has them on "Sale" for $770. https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/schuberth-c3-pro-helmet.

Local bike shops didn't have any in stock yet when I was shopping last month so I ended up getting the Shoei Neotec instead. Really great helmet, but not as quiet as the C3.

As soon as the dust settles on my bike build and my wallet recovers - I'm going to look at getting the C3 Pro.

How good is the ventilation on the C3? I keep hearing how quiet and comfortable but ventilation is very important to me down here in Swampy Flatlandistan.

I tried my friend's C3's..but i didn't found it more quiet from my Nolan N103!Except this, the ventilation in N103 Is great!better from the C3..(my opinion)I believe the differences have to do with our windshields firstly..

and that is with the eur to usd conversion...maybe the import fees are that high

In doing some research and a lot of reviews, it seems that the C3 is an across the board hands-down winner in the quiet department (modular helmet category). It's amazing how many owners actually "bragg" or boast about this as being worth every penny and one of the best investments they have ever made. hmmm?

The (very) few complaints are... some experience a bit of water coming in around the shield (while others say no, bone dry!). And the most prevalent complaint was that some experienced a forehead pressure point. Should note that those usually said it goes away once break-in has taken place.

@RedF- It was a 50ish degree day so when opening vents I felt plenty!, but my opinion and test on this probably should be null due to the temps I had.

@David- Most likely the C3-Pro is the one they had me try out, I'm sure they brought the latest greatest model to this show.

Thanks for the input everyone!, I'm still pondering/waffling and wanting to pull the trigger ...but still trying to convince myself of the big bux$

I tested a bunch of helmets last year and came down to the C3W (the women's specific fit for the C3)

It fits !!! First and most important

It's quiet - I didn't feel the need to wear ear plugs, even when on my Ducati

It's light - the weight of a helmet is worth considering in your purchase decision

It's aerodynamic - was an important consideration on the Ducati Monster with minimal fairing, less so on the FJR

The vents worked through a 100 degree Ohio Summer

Riona

Very good input Riona THNX!, I'm glad my g/f doesn't read this forum or I would be buying 2 of these! (still may, ur last statement gotme ugh!)

I didn't feel the need for earplugs at all w this helmet. For me doing short hops/rides around here, that will be purrfect! (cuz I usually is 'too lazy' to put them in, at least for the short rides). The lightweight-ness was nice too!

Thanks for the ride report. I'll be picking up my C3 (along with my bike) on Saturday. I was sold on the build quality, light weight, and low noise, but what really put it over the top for me was the way the Schuberth SRC Communication system integrates. Quite slick!

G.

I tried the C3 and had a hard time with the fit, with the sheild down it was too tight around my neck, I found the Shoei NeoTec fits my head much better. I will be looking at the NeoTec for a modular helmet.

Coming from a Ducatti forum that doesn't surprise me.

Still, that is a common phrase and one of the most stupid things I have ever heard. A helmet marketer's dream come true.

I have similar experience. I bought C3 after Shoei Multitec. It is good helmet, quiet and light but I left C3 to my wife - simply I feel much better with Shoei.

Now after one season with Shoei Neotec I must say that it fits to me much much better than C3 and also looks much better.

I am shopping for a Shoei Neotec after trying on both.... others with Neotecs tell me they flow/vent a lot more air than the C3. But I would think most would be happy with either.

I tried replacing my neotec with an c3. Although it fit my head ok, it ended up a no go for me.

1. That goofy center lock clip on the visor wouldn't work 2/3 of the time. The visor would flex and pivot on that clip and wouldn't lock unless I used both hands and press really hard.

2. The sun visor slide consistently jammed with the visor 1/4 of the way down. Nowhere as smooth as my old neotec.

I had hoped for a quieter helmet, but those two problems just wasn't worth the extra money. So I ended up buying another neotec.

Oh, we'll.
