Really annoyed!!!! ;) You didn't call in. You came right by my door, we could have ridden with you for a while and had a few beers, not to worry, next time.

Same applies to anyone else heading this way.

Great ride report and pictures. I got stuck looking for the next bit....has it been written yet?

HI All,

Thanks for the positivity, I appreciate it. Writing the second part right now, should be up by the end of the day. The entire story should be written by the end of the weekend. (Yes, I have no life...)

Fairlaner, we rented from a place called Raceway Rentals in London. Their website can be found here. The bike cost me 395 pounds/week, which, with the exchange rate as crap as it is right now, added up to a LOT of money. And they conveniently charge the entire fee to your card when you reserve the bike, so if the rate goes down (as it has now, a bit) you're out of luck there too. I suppose that works in your favor if the exchange rate goes up, but of course that never happens after you rent something expensive, does it? I'm sure it would have been really fun to try and get that money back if something had happened and we couldn't do the trip. But the people at Raceways were really nice and helpful. The bike, a 2005, was in good condition, except for the tires, which were a bit worn. I helped that worn out condition along as much as I could.

I would recommend Raceway Rentals 100% I would also recommend riding Scotland 200% too, especially the Highlands. Stunning.

Feejer222, before we left on this trip, I posted on the Adventure Rider 'Trip Planning' forum, with a thinly veiled, extremely lame post trying to get invited to save some money and get invited in. Or at least have somebody fund a night of debauchery... Only one person replied.

Believe me, if I'd have known you were there, I'd still be there now!

Next time.

Next time then, don't forget. ;)

Thanks to everybody for reading and your compliments.

I appreciate them very much.

Three of the four posts are up on my blog now, the last one will be up sometime tomorrow - unless they make me actually do some work at 'work.'

Hey Frenchy,

I love your ride reports. In fact I think you can bump the "faithfull 15" up to 16 now. I usually check your blog at least a couple times a week.

I'm using this report to start working on the wife about taking a vacation in that area some time. Probably won't be able to do it by bike with her along but oh well...

With your humor, and access to video equipment and technicians, you ought to see if you can get a couple camera folks to go with you the next time and see if you can give Ewan McGregor some competition in the motorcycle odessey video department. :yahoo:
