My first visit to the Yosemite Valley!

This trip was to scout the various vista points and points of interests and best time of day to view and capture, for repeated forays into the park over the next year.

I went and bought an annual national parks pass, good for unlimited visits to any national park for one car or up to two motorcycles. Who wants to go? :)

I hope you enjoy the read! The link to my blog below.. :)

Geez Sam, did you get married? Your picture had me going but I read the blog and it was not your bride- you are still on the prowl.

Nice report, about time you made it to the big rocks. Good time to go to see the waterfalls.

As for getting married? I wish! She was a very pretty girl, and sweet too, she did after all agree to model for me a bit before the wedding. She was prettier than my picture shows - when I compress the pictures for photobucket, it seems to take a lot of the "quality" away w.r.t textures and colors. Maybe it's time to switch to something else?

Great read Mr. Sam. Yosemite is on my "to do" list for sure. I think I'd have to do a few days there so I could get off the bike and hike back into the wilderness and see it up close & personal. Truly a beautiful & unique park for sure. Nice to avoid the crowds as well! TFS!

The time to do it will then be in late April and early May. Most if not all of the hiking trails were open. I just didn't have the time to hike them. Not a lot you can do riding in and out of the park over 2 days. The area is heavily infested with critters - it's after all their home not ours, so waiting them out for a bit after dawn and scurrying back to a hotel outside the park before dusk leaves you cramped for time.

I can't wait to head back and really stretch my legs in the park. Who wants to go with me? :)

Nice, Sam.

A long time ago, riding my /2 BMW, I met 3 stewardesses who offered an overnight invite to their rented cabin.

Man, oh man, oooooh man that was one delicious night.

Didn't see much of the park tho..

Thanks for correcting the errors in DC's "ride" report from a long time ago Mark. I suspect this was a very long time ago, when men used to fashion long hair. I also suspect after a great many libations DC couldn't tell the difference anymore..

Check out Smugmug... I've been using them for years and very happy with the service. :)

Oh, and glad you finally got down to witness (and document!) the spectacle on the valley floor... every time I go there, I see something a little bit differently so it always seems like the first time. B)

Yeah that's what I'm talking about!!! :) I've read a couple of books on Yosemite as well as being familiar with the great nature photographer Ansel Adams who took amazing black & white shots of the park back in his day. Its easy to see why Mr. Adams and people like John Muir loved this area.

It was a book I bought and read last year by a California photographer, while I was re-assembling my bike, which finally made me decide to visit the Valley floor instead of just blowing through Yosemite on Tioga every time. Whenever you happen to visit CA to visit Yosemite or wherever, please do let me know. I would love the chance to actually meet you in person.

Fantastic photos! Thanks to you many readers/riders will be putting this ride on their list.

it will fit in with my Cali/Oregon ride I have put on my list.
Thank you! My advice (for what it's worth) is to give Yosemite more than just a day's worth of time. Yes, you can ride into the valley and be able to see the major sights (well almost) from a distance on the roadside and be on your way out in one day - that's perfectly do-able. But, it would definitely be more enjoyable if you have some time to just sit and stare for a bit ... or to enjoy feeling the mist from the Falls on your face - which feels esp. great in the heat of the summer!

Happy travels on your Cali/Oregon ride!
