Well, it looks like I'm going to be able to get away that weekend and join everyone in Townsend. Will be leaving from South East Michigan and would welcome and company either from Michigan or as we proceed south.

Will be trying to avoid the super-slab for the most part, would appreciate any feedback on proposed routes. Avoidances, or musts . . . .

The route on Garmin Mapsource looks like this as a start:

US23 South to Michigan border and down the westside of Toledo

I-75 South for a bit, maybe as far as Findlay

(alternate here is US23S through Fostoria and Carey, but that's a bit East)

US68 South to Ohio River, crossing at Aberdeen/Maysville

(I know nothing about this road, never been on it . . . any comments, alternatives)

Hwy 11 more or less to Owingsville. (This is showing about 7 hours on the planner)

(If I break the trip into two parts this is probably where to stop for the night,

Variuos KY and TN State roads from Owingsville to Townsend (6hrs 45 min Day2 ?)

This might allow meeting up with the Lexington crew in another thread.

If you take 68 out of Maysville, that will take you right to Lexington where we are meeting up. It probably won't be as much fun as the route you have farther to the east, but it would put you in our planned neck of the woods.

Then the next day we are planning pretty much a serpentine route that may take us nearly all day out in to the sticks along I-75 down to Townsend.

You are certainly welcome to hook up!

If you trying to avoid 75 then I suggest using thursday to get down to Lexington and meet up with the small group thats goin to be spending the night there and leaving for Townsend the next morning a-la the "scenic" route.

Or you could join me around 3-4 am friday mornin around Toledo or Findlay and literally haul ass down to lexington to catch the group :D I figured I'd do the LONG scenic route home.. i booked a couple extra vacation days just in case i wanna stay till tue or wed. down there.
