Most motorcyclists that put stuff in their fuel recommend Seafoam. But my friend who runs a fleet of trucks swears by Lucas.

There is a significant price difference between these brands. Is there really a difference? Is one better or worse for motorcycles?

I don't know. I am using Yamaha ring free. It isn't cheap, but they certify it to be compatible with their bikes.

Seafoam or Chevron Techron or Yammy Ring Free are guaranteed to be safe and effective

I know some of the more potent stuff were listed as destructive to those nylon filters attached to old bikes petcocks on carb bikes

Good Luck

I'm using StarTron which is specifically designed to compensate for Ethanol fuels. :)

I use about 1/3 can of BG44K in a full tank of gas every 4000 miles. When I've burned through the tank, I do the 4000 mile service and add a TBS to the process. At 56,000 miles the engine runs smooth and strong. While YMMV, it is another data point.

It's all snake-oil in a bottle for the most part. I know Seafoam has helped clear up gummed injectors and carbs, but as far as any REALLY helping to improve engine function, how is there any proof of that??

Even though I don't know the answer, sometimes I use them too. I guess whatever makes you feel better wins.

I know the best thing to NOT add to your fuel. That is Ethanol. I try to run as little in all my toys as possible. When I put them away during their off seasons, I store them with NON Ethanol fuel and add Sta-Bil. Never had a problem.

I will repeat again what I use in car and motorcycle.

I use Marine Sta Bil and Ring Free 16 oz and 16 oz in the bottle. Add 1 ounce to the bike and two to the car at every winter fill up.

IMHO Sea Foam is a de carbon fogger and how I have used it, from a spray can directly on pistons and through intake track.

Marine Sta Bil is for ethanol and Ring Free for carbon. I bought a case of Ring Free and a case of Marine Sta Bil. Carry a 32 oz mixed bottle in bike and car.

Yamaha Ring Free is designed for use in Yamaha Outboard Motors. When Yamaha developed the HPDI (High Pressure Direct Injection) series of two stroke outboards, unlike Mercury and Evinrude, they did not go to a different oil. They also did not change the rate at which the oil was injected. Even though the motor was more efficient and burned less gasoline for a given # of revolutions, the pistons, bearings, and everything else that required lubrication were still moving the same # of times. In other words, the motor used less fuel to push the boat a given distance but it used the same amount of oil to travel that distance. This resulted in a very rich oil to fuel ratio. This caused excess carbon buildup in the cylinders. This in turn caused failure. Most of the charter boat engines in our area failed between 450 and 500 hours of use.

We had to use Ring Free or suffer engine failure. Since it was expensive, the fuel savings from the more efficient HPDI motor was partially cancelled out. Dad would sometimes run Lucas through his truck and he was adamant that it made a difference. We noticed that in a clear container we could not tell the difference. Later we found that SeaFoam is also identical regarding looks, smell, and feel.

Dad switched to Lucas based on price and partially hoping the HPDI V-Max would fail. We were never able to tell any difference.

I am not sure why you would need any of these products in an FJR, but that is your call.

Here is the Details on SeaFoam:

Scroll down to "What Does it Do?"

Sea Foam Motor Treatment is a highly effective and completely safe additive that can improve the performance of your engine as it helps too:

•Clean entire fuel system, including carburetor jet or fuel injectors

•Clean deposits from the combustion chambers and pistons

•Stabilize fuels for up to 2 years

•Lubricate the upper cylinders

•Control moisture in fuel

•De-ice frozen fuel lines

•Quiet noisy lifters All fuels leave varnish deposits, which over time build up, collecting deposits from exhaust and impairing the efficiency and effectiveness of your fuel system and combustion chamber components (pistons, valves, spark plugs.) Sea Foam Motor Treatment was originally designed to remove this varnish build-up, and nothing does it better or safer than Sea Foam.

Everyone knows that if ya aren't using amsoil then yer just wasting yer mooolah....or, what I call....."baby seal bucks".

I'll run a half can of the Seafoam thru before a valve check or when I being generous to the old girl and going to change her plugs.

I just don't run the Ethanol in bike unless I'm out on the road or my old truck or my yard equipment as it sucks in water and is rough on the seals of the older equipment.

You might try this site pure-gas for gas without Ethanol.
