I've seen FZ1s' mentioned here and there over time on this board, but I did not get a search result for it on our search box.
I think allot of people on this board own one or have owned one past.
I was just wondering if many of you would like it as a second bike to the FJR. I am keeping my FJR, I'm just thinking about adding a second and maybe a third bike to keep the FJR company in the garage.
I might go for a GoldWing down the road when I could swing the big bucks to pay for one in full. I just don't want to make payments on a bike that cost that much.
I also would like to get something more sporty that the FJR for ripping through twisties a bit more than the FJR can handle.
I am 6'.0" tall and forty five years old. I don't want to hump the tank and feel as though I'm about to fall over the handle bars like when I sit on a R6 or R1
The FZ1 looks like a nice alliterative to a regular sport bike that would allow this old guy to sit more upright. And the FZ1 is not to heavy. The FZ6 would do for me power wise, but I think that one would need a bunch of suspension and other upgrades.
And last year when I hung out at Star Motorcycle school at Louden race track in New Hampshire wile my son rode his Ducati Monster 695 on the Track, Jason Pridmore told the group they really don't have to get down tight on the tank for the lower speeds that are run on that track.
I would like to take the Star Motorcycle school my self to improve my riding skills, but I'm never going to ride on a regular "hump the tank sport bike" out side of a Track day school. So I need something more sporty than the FJR that I can have fun with on short rides and use it at the Track day school with out humping the tank so much.
Star Motorcycle school had the SV650s for rent that day and I like how I fit on that bike except for bending over the tank on the S model. I don't care if I'm riding at the end of the pack on track day with the other slow guys, but the S650s seamed really under powered on the track in New Hampshire that weekend.
So what do you guys think? FZ6 with a bunch of upgrades, (lower power would be good for a rookie like me to the track) or get the FZ1?
These bike would be ok with me on the street also. No tank humping for my old back.
