Anyone out there using an Airhawk cushion or sheepskin pad? What do you think of it?
I use to use an Airhawk on my cruiser. I found it only moved the pain around as opposed to getting rid of it entirely. I would say it wasn't worth the price they are charging. Half price? Maybe....

I use an air hawk and like it. You will move around a bit on top of it, more like shifting. You have to play with the inflation to get it just right. I guess i got accustom to it. I would like to just get a Russel seat instead but the air hawk is a cheaper alternative. I got mine used for 100 bucks...For full price I would not buy it either.

Never used the air cushion, but for longer trips I use the small diamond-shaped Aerostitch sheepskin. It has a thin amount of foam on the bottom to grip the seat and I go further between when I need to stand and stretch.has been a great addition.

I have been using a sheepskin cover for about 3 mo. now and find it to be comfortable for long trips, it does get the boys a little sweaty though.

www.beadrider.com beaded seat.....cheap alternative that helps lengthen the time between stops..

I've used a sheepskin cover , from Alaska Leather, now on 3 bikes. I like them alot. I've heard from the LD groups about the bead covers from bead rider. I may give them a try on my next trip.

Have used a Butt Buffer (Gel) Not worth the money. It slides and suffers under the sun and you will too when you sit on it after it has been out in the Sun.

I have a lambskin too. It works ok is hot. And I just bought a beaded seat pad and put 1500 miles on it in three days. It worked fine. No heat build up and it stays in place. It allows you to easily move your butt if you use that technique in corners. The lambskin did not allow you to slide easily.

So far the beads are best for me but not totally comfortable after a long ride but nothing severed. Also had wild bills hiway pegs to help out.

(Should read: nothing severe.....nothing was severed either. LOL)

Anyone out there using an Airhawk cushion or sheepskin pad? What do you think of it?
Thanks,

John

I have an Airhawk and on long rides...over 300 miles or so...I use it and it helps alot. You definantely have to almost de-inflate it for it to work properly and being a short shit myself, it makes for a little longer reach to the ground. I think I paid 150 or so for it and I consider it a worthy farkle but butts are like opinions...different and sometimes split but always backin' one up. Good Luck.

Blessings,

Bobby

John...I got a sheepskin and airhawk for my `04 and it made a world of difference on that bike (super comfortable). Now, with my `07, this particular combo doesn`t make it for me. The seat by itself is better than the 1st gen design, owing to it`s larger flattened surface. The harder seat for some reason is more comfortable....more room to shift around....cooler and better texture. Everytime I try the airhawk and sheep., I find it gets in the way of the thighs and soon irritates, especially coming to a stop when the feet have to go down. And, it`s hotter. Yep, they worked great on the `04 and allowed me to ride in comfort for 4 seasons. Now, they sit in the corner of the garage...talking over what might have been, feeling rejected. :angry2:

I am going to see Rocky at BMS tomorrow. Getting my seat touched up. It was good for about 12,000 miles then all of a sudden it became a mid-evil torture device. I am sure after Rocky has a go at it it will be a lot better. I just don't get those Iron Butt guys. I don't think I will ever be up to 1000 mile days. The biggest problem I have is with the sits bones. They really hurt a lot. I am very interested in how the IBA guys put in such long days.

What are the tricks?

Thanks guys

John
