WOW! they totally have it Farkled out. Looks like a hard core rally bike what with the engine guards and even has foot protectors! Im impressed. What does Seattle PD motorcycle unit wear? With it raining in Seattle 230 days a year? Do they wear Aerostitch? That is a really good looking unit. I think ST's would have been a better choice though. I wonder what caused them to accept that bid?

The moto officers I talked to like the Beamer better as it is better at going over curbs and such.

I got to thinking last night after seeing a news report on the Seattle mayor's bicycle summit and got to wondering why do they need the Kawi? The mayor is publically pushing a new law to reduce the speed limits to 20 mph in residential areas for bicycle safety 20 mph - clicky. IIRC the 3 bicycle fatalities this year have all occurred on arterial streets.

Seems to me they don't need a performance motorcycle, the slow Harley shoudl suit the mayor's initative just fine. ;)

BMW = HIGH ongoing maintenance costs.

Honda ST1300 = High speed weave.

So, here come's the Connie as a viable alternative.

There is no question BMW = HIGH ongoing maintenance costs it also has another meaning: BMW = Bring My Wallet at each service.

As a former BMW owner I learned that the hard way. In fact my old 1987 airhead was the only bike to leave me stranded. A broken clip in the tranny cost me big bucks.

The officer said he prefers the Harleys over the C-14 for city patrol, this bike would fit the WA State Trooper fleet better for the slab.

+1 on scooter's response. Our guys down here mentioned the same high speed head shake on the Honda. And the high cost of BMW. Their problem down here is the lack of Kawi dealers in the area to work with.

Mayor McGinn is such a D-bag!! What IS it with the ***** voters in Seattle? First that buffoon Greg Nickels now this clown! I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to turn the whole downtown area into a pedestrian/no motor vehicle area......
