Sedona, AZ rides to Grand Canyon and Petrified Forest

There are a few of us riding out from California to Sedona, AZ on Thursday, January 20th and we will be staying at the Sedona Summit Resort 4055 Navoti Dr, Sedona, AZ, 86336. We are going to ride out to the Grand Canyon early Friday morning Jan 21st after breakfast if you would like to join us? We are also going to do a day ride to the Petrified Forest on Sunday, Jan 22nd. If you would like to do one or both of these day rides we would love the company. I will have my SPOT tracking on during the trip for those of you who decided to stay home. Hope to see some of the locals and meet some new friends.

Thanks, my favorite shot was the one of the golf course covered in snow with the flag stick. I guess I will not be bringing my golf clubs... :lol: Well, it looks awesome and I personally love riding in the winter. The weather this week shows the highs in the highs 40s and low 50s which is perfect. Here are some of our photos from March 2010 when it gets a little warmer. LINK Thanks for sharing!!

Same here 2006FJR, I was hoping that Wolfhound, SkooterG and Papa Chuy could have ridden to the Grand Canyon with you today. It just wasn't in the cards for us.

Beautiful area for riding. We've taken several trips out that way. Love those red rocks.

Here are a few photos from the trip. We had a great time and it only took about 6 hours to make it back from Sedona with gas, food and a break along the way. Wind was kicking pretty good but I found the faster I went the easier it was on me and the bike. Other than having my key break in the top case around Barstow it was a pretty uneventful ride. On Saturday I think I had the best day of riding I have ever had. Everything just worked out, the weather was great (except for 18 degrees in the early am going through Flagstaff) the roads were perfect, and the scenery was fantastic. I really love riding in Arizona!

We started out with a ride to the Petrified Forest(Badlands)and the Painted Desert on Saturday. On the way back we all decided to stop off to see the Meteor Crater since it was on the way and the sun was in our eyes. Saturday was the Grand Canyon, Sunset Crater Volcano and the lava trails, Wupatki National Monument and 800 year old Hopi dwellings to see how they lived back then. It was a great way to get off the bike and walk. At night we were in Sedona and the biggest challenge was trying to find a restaurant open after 7:30pm. All and all it was an amazing trip with a great group of guys. Boz did not complain once about riding his R1 and Chris never had a bad thing to say.

I am sorry it did not work out with your schedules and it would have been great to meet you and do a ride. My guess is you guys have done this ride too many times to mention. We will tr it again another day and I hope we ride together soon!
