Hi. Just came back from a 4 day ride, touring the highlands to the north of Kuala Lumpur, and the tracking back south to Malacca.

Hope you enjoy the pics.

Our ride starts on Thursday morning. The RV point - Coffee Bean atop Genting Highlands...

...where we discuss the route we will take. There are only 3 of us - Feizal (white shirt), Nathan, and myself.

As you can probably already tell from my prior ride reports, Genting Highlands is always a stop for us, as long as we're heading north. It is a fairly popular hang out for bikers. Its not uncommon to see 50 or so bikes parked here on the weekends.

Although today was a clear day, on some days, you could be riding in the clouds at this stretch of road...

On other days, you ride above the clouds...

Our first stop was this waterfall we spotted on the GPS. We parked the bikes to have a look-see, and maybe a dip.

Lots of smaller bikes in the parking lot.

Seems to be a fairly popular picnic spot for the locals. There's a camp site across the river.

...and 'going for a bush walk' as he likes to phrase it...

Stopped at the entrance on the way out for this snap

Rode for about an hour and a bit before stopping for lunch. This seems like another pot for bikers..

Lunch was a very simple buffet affair with only local food on the menu.

'When in Rome...' Nathan learning to eat with his bare hands.

I'll have to pause here for now. There's lots more to come.

Nik.

As usual, pics are great...

Upgrade that to 'Spectacular', since I now have an 08' too.

Man those photos make everything look grand.

Looking forward to the cont'd installments.

Thanks for the compliments guys.

@RemingtonRider, congrats on the new '08!!

Here come some more pics..

So after lunch, we began our ascent up the eastern face of Cameron Highlands. Long, long sweepers for miles on end. Cool, crisp air. Magnificent views.

That's a 40 foot drop below the elevated highway... although Nathan doesn't seem perturbed by the height.

We stopped at this aborigine home, one of many built along the road.

This particular family collects honey from the hive of wild bees in the forest.

You've probably seen pictures of the sprawling tea plantations that I take every time I pass through Cameron Highlands...

The emphasis is on 'sprawling'

We had some tea at the cafe perched atop the hill on the plantation.

This is the hotel we stayed in. We parked our bikes, took a quick shower and rest and was out looking for dinner...

Cameron Highlands is very well known for strawberries.

There are also lots of guided treks into the forests. This is the office of one such tour operator. They've got pictures of some of the flora and fauna you will encounter. Plus some dangerous wild animals too...

We thought about dining here but kept on walking. Just to note. 1 US dollar = 3.4 Malaysian Ringgit. This meal for approx US$2+ will stuff you silly.

After wandering around, we wound up here for dinner..

We had a steamboat dinner which looks like what you see in the pic below.

After dinner, we wandered around some more, looking for souvenirs.

I always enjoy your trips and pictures.

Thanks for sharing.

Great variety of places in your report Nik! I used to read Graham K. Rogers reports of his rides out into Khanchanaburi Province in Western Thailand. His photo write-ups had a similar flavor but your camera work and pictures are much better. :clapping:

Keep it up, you got it going!

Another great report, Nik. Thanks. I was thinking what great motorcycle country you seem to have in Malaysia, but how unfamiliar and "exotic" it would seem to me. What I'd want is a good local guide. If I ever make it there, we'll go for a nice long ride like this together, ok? :)

Hey, if a good meal is only a couple bucks, maybe I really could afford to do it.

By the way, the slogan on that--what is it, leather wristband?--above the one in your thread title:

"Take all you can, give nothing back." Um, unusual sentiment.

Thanks so much for posting!

Awesome, erm, awe struck....ummm......WOW

That looks like some very cool riding I would love to check out that part of the globe but probably wouldn't have the stones to just up and do it with out knowing somebody there first. But who knows.

Very nice pictures thanks for sharing them.
