Trevor and I made it home safe and sound. Gray Ray lead us around the flat, boring, straight roads of SEO. A great ride on Saturday morning into the early afternoon. We can't thank Ray enough for making the effort to meet us in the hotel parking lot and riding with us.
I even got to meet Lunch Truck Larry who is a great guy. I'm sure he enjoyed his first Ramble. Trevor and I felt bad that we didn't try to coax him a little more to ride with us. We know he would've enjoyed the ride. Lunch Truck Larry even made good on buying me the first beer. I owe him one for that.
It was great to see everybody. Seeing Jim and Iris for the first time in a while was really nice.
Our trip home was a little more exciting then we would've wanted. We stopped for gas about 60 miles from home and I saw cords showing on Trevor's rear tire. We babied that tire the rest of the way home. Trevor sure got his money's worth out of that rear tire. Time for a replacement.
Thanks to all who disorganized this event. It's probably my favorite rally every year. Hopefully Trevor and I will meet up with Ray, Denny, Dave, Joe and the rest of the Ohio riders to put a few more miles on those straight, flat and boring roads.

WOW... That was awesome Big fun ! Me and the rest of the southern contingency pulled out in the light rain about 9 am. Rolled west and ran out of the rain around Athens, OH. Then prefect weather until Columbia, KY. Rode out a storm under a motel portico, then into Bolling Green for the night. Awesome day! We'll all go our separate ways in the morning.
Outstanding unorganized event! Just the way I like them. Thanks to El Toro for making it happen. Really cool dude! The roads in that little corner of the world are awesome. We all three were blown away and can't wait to get back to OH 26 and 800!
Great seeing old friends, some of which i haven't seen in a few years. Really, really enjoyed meeting some new friends too. The FJR crew is quite the bunch, and that damn Larry is one funny guy! I just hope for his sake he can start racking up more miles on that pretty '07.
I'll post up some pics when I get home and get settled in.

Slogged it through the rain on Sunday for 350 miles then called it quits and found a hotel. I found out my somewhat new waterproof boots are not waterproof. "Bastages" I will try some mink oil and see if that helps. Made is home today riding back with Cota95 taking the lead. Lots of cops but we kept it within reasonable limits.
Had a great trip and met a few new folks and also the old stand by's that usually show up.
Thanks, Joe for organizing this unorganized ride. It was great riding some of the most boring roads Evah !!!

As I rode through Fort Abercrombie about 6:00 tonight I was reflecting on the fact that I was home safe from a solo cross country trip of nearly 3200 miles and had a wonderful weekend with a bunch of strangers I met on the internet.
Fridays ride was with a great group of 7 led by Bob. Saturday we wicked it up a bit while following Jason and found out I was riding with Bryan Cranston, the star of Breaking Bad who goes by FjrVfr
Sunday morning we watched everyone leave in the rain and pondered where to ride. I threw the West Route in the GPS and Cav47 and I proceeded to go out to enjoy a day that turned out perfect. That is until I let Cav47 lead. First he took us down a dead end road after ignoring the sign. Then he took us down some shitty, mostly gravel, narrow goat path. When he finally gets us on the black top road he decides to attempt a spectacular pass of four vehicles while a Deputy is following us. When the deputy lights it up, gives chase, and finally catches up with up with us, Josh shows what he's made of and ditches me to deal with the County Mounty. DICK! Anyway the County Mounty realizes that I'm a swell guy and lets me off with a warning and a lecture.

As promised, a few pics from our ride to SEO
Tyler, LA2wheeler, Cornbread left Jemison on Wednesday morning and met me along I-59 outside of Gadsden. We took a nice ride through northern Alabama and into Tennessee. Not long after crossing the state line we made our first stop at the Natural Bridge in Sewanee, TN
Then on to the Smokehouse in Mont Eagle, TN for a scrumptious lunch!
On to Cumberland Falls, KY State Park for the night
Headed out Thursday am headed for Marietta, OH. First stop was along KY 89 in the Daniel Boone National Forest, out in the boonies!
On to Hillbilly Hotdogs in Lesage, WV for a little lunch and adventure.
Then to Point Pleasant to visit the Mothman!
Into Marietta Thursday evening for the parking lot festivities
On Friday, we rode down to Charleston, WV to visit my elderly aunt. Aunt Clack fell and broke her hip a few months ago and lost her husband of over 70 years while she was in the hospital. A visit to see her was long overdue!
Then it was back to rally HQ for steak night. Anyone who bitched about the steak just didn't put enough A1 on theirs!
On Saturday we got in an early morning ride on the roads that have made the SEO Ramble such a big draw. We rode what has quickly become one of my all-time favorite roads, OH 26, awesome!
We had a late breakfast at the ferry to Sisterville, WV on OH 7.
Then up OH 556 to the field of dreams in Beallsville, OH
Back to rally HQ, where it was an honor and privilege to meet Dwayne Wilcox, Vietnam Vet on his 2003 FJR with 408,000 miles!
More parking lot festivities before we headed over to the Mexican joint for Cinco De Mayo
We couldn't get served there but we met some locals from Parkerburg, WV. Adam and Savannah loaded us up and took us to a local pub. Great kids!
On Sunday morning we headed towards home. We started out in the rain, but that only lasted an hour and a half. The rest of the day was gorgeous! Ended up in Bowling Green, KY for the night.
On Monday morning my compadres headed for Arkansas and I struck out for home on this!
After 175 very stress filled miles I arrived at my buddies house in Huntsville. Before heading out for some BBQ, we put the FJR in the shed and he loaned me his V-strom for the last 100 miles to my house.
I made it home around 6 pm Sunday, completely exhausted after such a stressful day. It was a great trip and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting a bunch of new folks at SEO. My hat is off to El Toro Joe for organizing such a wonderful unorganized event! Hope to see y'all there next year!
