I find that my face hurts from smiling too much when I ride. :)

My first few rides resulted in a bit of wrist pain as well. Yoda fixed me right up.

I think I wrote this in one of those other threads. But what helped me the most was yanking the outboard pin and swinging the bars a bit more "out".

After my 1200 mile trip to Dragon territory. I found on mh return my wrists, hands, and the tendon below my elbow hurt like crap. I went out and sat on the bike in the garage and put my hands on the grips. What I saw was my hands were "cocked" just a bit to the right...meanng when I stretched out my fingers they were not straight in line with my arm, but pointing off to the outside. I could feel the pain below my elbow when I did this.

I then pulled my hands off the grips and straightened my hand so my fingers followed the same line as my arm. Opening and closing my hand no longer hurt now.

I read a thread here where a member took a set of dikes and pulled out the outer pin in handlebar mount....allowing him to swing the ends of the bar farther out.... or in.

I couldn't pull my pins out so I just took them off with a cutoff wheel on my dremel tool. It looked like I now could swing the ends out a good 10 degrees or so....enough that now when I grab the grips my hand is inline with mh arm. A quick 60 mile ride ended with no soreness in my arms of wrist.

To this day I've no issues with comfort in my arms hands or wrist. I even found there was no need to buy risers....which I really thought I needed when I got the bike.

If your build is small and narrow (distance between shoulders) it's quite possible your pain is due to the same cocked wrist hold I had before I altered the bars.

And don't forget windshield position. With it down I get the pain between the shoulxerblades.
Im '6 tall and find that having the windscreen all the way down puts the air pressure on my chest therefore makes sitting in the proper position much easier. I get a lot of pressure on my back when the WS in all the way up, especially when Im using the top case.

Had the same wrist and shoulder problems... and installed Motorcycle Larry upper clamp.

Instant relief. Close my eyes, put my hands down and they contact the bars now.

Before that the bars were 1-1/2 inch too far forward and a bit down, had to be a reach.

Tried the Yoda position stuff... dunno, probably not for my body.

I really don't know why somebody doesn't come out with a mount for 1" NORMAL bars on this bike,

hell, you could do whatever you want then.

I felt your pain as well.

I learned that leaning forward with any weight on your hands is a bad thing!

When riding now, I will occasionally allow one of my hands to drop from the grip

to make sure I am not putting weight on my hands and wrists.

I also keep my feet under my hips by resting the balls of my feet on the pegs. I used to point my toes downward with my boot heels used to keep my feet from sliding completely off the pegs... no more. Now the balls of my feet rest on the pegs & cornering is easier as well.

I think you will find you are overgripping the bars ,and not doing the right things for distance riding here are a few I use and I can do 17 hours in the saddle.

RELAX

Grip the bars lightly you can easly control the bike with alight grip

stand on the pegs every 1/2 hour on long trips for about 30 seconds to keep circulation going properly

flex shoulder arms wrists fingers knees legs feet and toes when you can.

make sure your gloves and jacket fitt properly with being too tight .

wear a kidney belt and see if it helps .

most important move your head and eyes around regularly

try listening to your music ,some people find this helps some hate it up to you .

walk about when you stop to refuel

use painkillers like Advill/ asprin whatever you normally use before pain sets in

enjoy riding leave your problems behind .

Let the bars go your hands completely, Master Yoda say.

If your posture changes then you know you are putting weight - or hanging on. Master Yoda position trains you for a very light touch.

Since I have real cruise control, I find riding no hands a hoot. Sit proper and place both hands on your fuel tank just behind and side to side of the filler cap. Grip the tank lightly with your legs and steer with your hips.

Unless , of course, you are in the twistys. Then you need a very light touch to keep from inducing unwanted steering inputs. Again Master Yoda rules!!!

>"... and installed Motorcycle Larry upper clamp"

Well, I did a 600 mile ride past two days. Ok, hand and shoulder pain are gone. Nice.

Now... I need to eliminate leg pain. I am afraid that I'm not

used to having the legs flex that much, seat is too close to the pegs.

Big pain in the right thigh... after only 100 miles. Only way I could handle

300 miles per day is with the freeway pegs, and by standing up... and even that was agony after 300 miles.

Next try, raise the seat off the low setting, maybe a pad... and see if that helps a bit.

Try and get in shape too. Dunno. Unless I can get comfortable on the bike I'll have to sell it.

I have ridden 500 miles on a WR250-R and an F-650 in one day so I'm not that unfamiliar with mileage

and long hours in the seat.

pos platform. U should call one of the Jew lawyers on the telly.. These worthless fuking bikes are millions waiting to happen :p

Nah.. it's a great bike, want to keep it.

However, coupled with an old body.

Dunno who to sue about that one. Probably sue myself.

As others have mentioned loosen up your grip, you should be able to move your elbows while riding like chicken wings, if you can't your gripping too tight.

Suprisingly, this happened to me and I'm 5'5. I had the dealer pull back the bars during my 600 service (wow, no additional charge) and noticed a smoother ride. I got a cramp buster for highway/long distance riding and this also helped - just can't use the cramp buster in city rides, atleast for me that is. Yes, RELAXING your grip and posture adjustments help me, even with the butt hard stock seat.

I've been having similar trouble along with ankle pain, but I think I've got it beat. We just completed a 1000 mile 4 day trip and the bike did GREAT! No real pain other than a couple times I thought it was coming on, but it always subsided. Only the butt was sore and the Russell build date is end of August. I got home and changed clothes and got back on the bike to run around town. I did several things that helped but I really think the ibuprofin made the most difference:

- Scooted forward toward tank more

- Pulled elbows in

- Back stretches in mornings and

- Added GenMar risers and moved bars to closest position

- Vista Cruise let me flex hands

- Vibranators elimated wobble and some vibration

- Gave up on trying to put toes on pegs and ankle pain subsided

- Relaxed and stopped thinking about it so much

- Took ibuprofin before and consistently during trip

Don't give up. Like any ergonomic issue, there is something that is rubbing your joints a certain way that is causing a pain through repetitive motion. Subtle changes can make a lot of difference. Good luck.

Question for everyone that experienced finger, hand, wrist or forearm pain. Did anybody ever change gloves and notice a difference? I say this because I was having some hand issues but I bought some new gloves a size larger and the pains went away. Put the old gloves on and pain comes back.

Yes I found this out where some gloves create a Fold in the Palm area and puts pressure on the Nerve in that area and it affects the hand up to the sholder.

Yeah I do believe I mentioned it a few times over the years.. Hell, I didn't go back to the start of this, but I bet my drunk *** may have mentioned it here.

Shortly after I bought some new gloves, I found I was getting wrist pain and a numb arm. Put it down to the new gloves being more slippery, so that I had to grip the throttle tighter to hold it open.

Did the throttle spring mod, and added my El Cheapo Throttle Grip Improver, they helped considerably.

As more birthdays have gone by, I've put on a cruise control. Long periods of holding the throttle in one place were doing no good at all
