Well things dealer servicing wise have started off on the downside despite my best hopes but you did warn me.

True my bike had a new filter and clean engine oil, lots of it. In fact I siphoned off about half a pint of overfill once I got home and checked it.

Jeez, isn't it just as easy to get it right, as to totally feck it up? What is wrong with these people?

Fresh oil in the final drive too. Couldn't really overfill there could they? Suppose I should be thankful there was any put in at all.

Nothing else done.Apparently that was the 10,000 mile service, prepaid at time of purchase, five more services to go. I have the invoice, time allowed and booked, 2.5 hours.Time taken, less than 1.5 hours.

Piss takers.

This just reinforces my normal feelings of mistrust in dealer servicing. Every time I relent and give the next one a try, the same thing happens.

Sorry about the rant everybody. Needed to get it off my chest to people who understand. When will I ever learn?

When I bought my FJR, I knew nothing about it and nothing about this forum. So, I bought a pre-paid service plan. Unlimited miles and three years. They did 10 or 11 services.

During that time, they did every service and they did them right. They did my valve check, and never once screwed anything up. During that time, they got to know me, and I got great service because I took the time to talk to them and not demand things.

Because of our relationship, they got my bike in and out fast. They took care of YES stuff more than once and to this day make sure the tech I like does my work...when I need it.

Sorry you guys got ****** dealers, but I think that's a dealer issue. Not a brand issue. Honestly, if this forum hadn't taught me how easy it is to do the services on this bike, I woulda bought another 3 years. I got my money's worth.

Oh I totally agree that the issue with all us dissatisfied guys and gals is with the dealers we are unlucky enough to have signed up with. The bike is great, it's a piece of precision machinery and just needs maintaining.

HotRod,your dealer is worth his weight in gold and I would so love to have found one just like him.

You're right that the right approach goes a long way in building a good relationship with our dealers, and while I don't claim to be the the most diplomatic and tactful guy around, I had hoped that just leaving the job with him, with no demands or veiled threats, would have been enough.

I'm thinking now that instead making the trip after another 6 months and working myself up over it, I will take care of service items and the next oil change and leave the next visit for a year or so.

Make the best of a bad job that I can live with.

Agreed, ther are good dealers out there, But the local HALLS MOTORSPORTS dealer here in Alabama is NOT one of them. They suck. I dont even walk in thier door anymore.

Glad some of you have reputable dealers.

Agree with your general sentiment. A good dealer is a good dealer irrespective of brand. They're 'value added resellers' or VARs in other industries. I've had good Honda dealers, bad Honda dealers, Kawasaki...and the same for Yamaha.

If you find one you like, that works well for you, they are indeed worth their weight in gold.

My wife poo-poo's me for washing my bike every couple weeks, need it or not. I've always told her that I discover loose/missing fasteners frequently that way. Last year, I washed the bike a couple weeks after having gotten it back from the dealer. I found body panels not properly reinstalled, loose fasteners, one of which was missing, and so on. Just from one visit. I normally do an inspection when I get the bike back (however rare that is); this time I didn't. It was the wash that caught it.

Cheers

Well if you guys was a fart smucker like me, you have tech days an invite wizards like Bill, Ray,and Andy to teach ya how to fix stuff. ;)

Hell, I've learned enough over the last three years I don't need any help lettin' the smoke out!
