Ok I am trying to budget my FJR?

Question is what are the service intervals and how much should they cost? I know every dealer has different cost but a ball park is good to know if local dealer is screwing me.

Don't have the place or time to do it myself. But don't mind paying to keep machine running in top shape/

Your most expensive service is the 26k valve adjust for which the service book time is quoted @ 5 hours. Simple to break each of the tasks down into time and multiply by your dealer's hourly rate plus parts and consumables. Most dealers will tell you what the book time for each service item is.

One resource might be to go online. The Yamaha website has the owner's manual online so you can see service intervals on various parts/systems. I'm at work or I'd provide a link. I'm sure someone will come around and provide it -- we are friendly :D :blink: .

As for costs per service, things vary by dealer and area of the country, so your mileage may vary. Maybe go to the dealer you are considering and ask what it would cost for oil change, 600 mile checkup, TBS, etc. and get an idea. My dealer service department guys do that for me. But are you sure you can't figure out a way to do even some oil changes, lubes, etc.? They are generally easy and save money....

Definitely consider doing most of your own service. I'm not a great mechanic (okay, I suck) but the guys around here have posted so many how-to's that I was able to deal with all the routine service so far. I'll only be letting my dealer do the coolant (yeah, I'm wussing out on the suck-flush), the valve adjust, and brake work beyond fluid changes/bleeding.

 
Very user friendly bike with just normal maintenance and a 26600 valve adjustment probably best left to a dealer. Awesome bike to be sure...
