Been a loooong time since I played like that Don.. the patten is consistent don't see any bare to heavy areas. Looks pretty good to me.

Blue dye resembles my applesack color though.

I seriously doubt that the backlash on a tractor is very critical. It won't be used at high speeds.

Just looking at the rough faces of those gears tells you that the tolerances are non-critical.

That **** is way to clean Don. Go drag it around the driveway and then go ahead and put it together. :D

I agree about the low speed reducing some of the importance of the backlash adjustments. It's still important though and it looks (to me) like you have it pretty good. I am hoping that I don't ever have to perform that kind of surgery on mine. I terribly overstressed my Monster Fergusson after Hurricane Gustav and had the sealing surface you have pictured leaking oil on both sides. It was under warranty, thank goodness. I don't want to do what you are doing. You have my respect.

Good job Don, Although it is not a high speed application there are considerable amounts of load on that final drive ie full bucket, turf tires? dry pavement in 4WD? I have done many of these and the weak link always seems to be lack of support/bearing substance on the very outboard bearing and stub shaft. that and over camber setup and vert tight turning radius reeks havoc on these things good luck on the rebuild PS dont forget to prefill the cases and do the fill and tilt JAG

Oh for fuks sakes!!! dickbags head is gonna swell an explode now..Dood! Don't ever tell Carver you respect him..

First , he's gonna want ***.. then, he's gonna want ***.... Then he's gonna cry and want a commitment.

The end result is going to be guilt and money lost.

Next time just tell him to put a **** in it.

Believe me, you will thank me for this advice.

Well, I can't help him with the ***, but I think he is already screwed. I mean, he bought a John Deere! There is his screwing, his guilt and his lost money.

Seriously, I hope the repair works out. A good tractor is invaluable.
