The Wounded Warrior Project has dedicated this years Soldier Ride to my son , Marine Lance Corporal Jordan Haerter who was killed April 22nd in Ramadi....

On Saturday, July 26, Michelle and I are going to be aimlessly walking the highways and byways of Amagansett, NY to raise money in support of programs for veterans wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan all in the memory of Jordan.

It is my personal goal to raise $1,000,000 (or something with more than one zero) and you can help! You can sponsor me right now by clicking HERE RIGHT NOW. All donations are tax deductible and will probably raise your Karma meter substantially. :yahoo:

If you prefer to send a check, you can make it payable to the Wounded Warrior Project and mail it to Stephen Talkhouse, P.O. Box 1905, Amagansett, NY 11930. Make sure that you indicate that it's in memory of LCpl Jordan Haerter and put my name, Christian Haerter, someplace in the memo section of the check.

Money raised by The Empire State Challenge goes to support the many programs of the Wounded Warrior Project. The Wounded Warrior Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting the new generation of severely injured servicemen and women. Delivering personal and responsive attention for these heroes, The Wounded Warrior Project provides free programs and services for the severely wounded, enables vets to help vets, and educates the public and enlists their aid in this important effort. If you'd like more information on the work of the project, go to The Wounded Warrior Project

The forum has been unbelievable in its support of us since this all happened and for that I am eternally grateful. Thanks in advance for any help you all can provide.

Very cool Chris, I am definitely signing up. But don't have time to jump onto the donation site right now. I will, though, Heidi

A little story about how Marines do things....

Shortly before Jordan died he had sent his laptop back to me to be repaired. I fixed it and sent it back to him about a week before he got killed and since then it has been lost in the postal system, floating endlessly between Iraq and Kuwait. It finally made it to the battalion commanders desk and he called me and assured me that he was taking care of it himself and that he was sending it out to me right away. Two weeks passed and still nothing. Now he was even more determined to make things right. He sent me an email a couple of days ago and told me that he had put the computer (along with some other personal belongings) onto an aircraft in the trusting hands of Jordan's roomate from Camp Lejeune who was deputized as an official postal courier so he could pass through customs unimpeded. Cody was in the compound with the other 32 Marines that fateful day. He arrived from Iraq last night and will be in Sag Harbor today to personally deliver the items and he will stay with us until Sunday. Thats the way they take care of their own in the Marine Corps....Semper Fi....
