David,

I feel for you man, and the kids. Glad your dad is good, though.

My last dog found a copperhead in the back yard and alerted me before the kids went out, I miss her.(she died of old age)

Man, that's sad and inspirational at the same time David. HM jumped on the grenade for your Dad, humans could learn a thing or two from the love and loyalty dogs have for us.

Scab, sorry you lost a good one there. Your Dad was lucky to have a defender of that caliber.

I can't deny it. And their names won't help any rebuttal either.

Teddy

Bobo

Rufus

Molene

&

Butterbean

All good dogs, each with their own unique personality.

Having dogs is one of the benefits to where we live.

So sorry for the loss of Hootchie Moo but what a pup to save your dad! I'm sure HM is having a grand time with lots of treats and tons of coppersnake free lands to roam on. :angel

OH no...Sorry for the loss of HM. She looks a little like my Jack Russel/Rat Terrier. Fearless, loyal, stubborn (she probably wouldn't have backed down from that silly snake if called off), but always, ALWAYS protective.

:bye2:

That was a great deed done, I am sure your father appreciated it, sorry the outcome for your friend was not good.

That must have been a good sized one, to put it down with one bit.....

Might want to check with the vet to see if you can have anything on hand in case that snake comes back.....

Strangely enough, when the wife called the vet, they were in no hurry to see the dog. They said most dogs don't die from snake bites.

Must have been a big one. Of course, it ultimately didn't matter since she could not locate the dog at the time.

In my experience, snake bites to the face are usually more fatal than other parts of the body. Lost a horse a while back that was bit on the nose. Sorry for your loss. I hate that kind of stuff.

That is true

My neighbor has a Daschund, that has been bit by a rattler on 6 diff occasions including one to the face..
