Holy ****!... that pretty much clinches the points race for "Elbows". I think a lot of crap goes on that the riders don't know about. Thanks for posting. I also missed this article from the 17th about the wins being provisional pending crank inspection (that sounds obscene).

Wonder what specifically was wrong with the crank.

It's not like he needed the edge to win.

I remember a certain someone fussing at someone else when the thread title gave something away. Granted, this isn't results, but it certainly affects the outcome.

I've been in some long days this week and have not had a chance to watch yet.

That said, why would Matt's crankshaft be different from Ben's?

I dunno BB... Mladin won all three races at the first two venues (Daytona and Barber). Spies then seemed to find his rhythm because he won the next 7 races (Cali Speedway, both races, Sears Point, both races, Miller, both races, and Road America, 1st race) (did Spies' crew pull something?). Then at the 2nd race at Road America... Mladin wins, followed by 5 wins at Laguna Seca (1 race), Mid-Ohio (2 races), and Virginia (2 races that were DQ'd per the article WC posted). Maybe... Mladin needed an extra *something* to hold off "Elbows"? Either way... I think Spies is going MotoGP... Especially with the ******** going on with AMA currently.

I agree.

I can't believe his mechanic would have done it. Too much to lose if he did. He has been with Matt for many years. I think there is a lot more that will come out in due time. Besides, it is not like Matt's bike was faster in the straight a way. It does make you wonder about the rest of the bikes on the team though. The next race will tell. If they are suddenly slower, then it might be a team wide problem. I thought Yosh had an engine shop (like NASCAR teams) that built all of the engines. Could be where the problems lies. Could have been a test engine that should have never left the shop...could have been intentional...who knows.

You know what, you are *entirely* correct! Apologies, and title adjusted.

A good question... I suspect there's good (or clever) answer. Regardless, I bet Matt is just about hot enough to fu#k right about now....

Looking at the crank specs, possible mods could include

1) knife edging (decreases windage)

2) balancing with mallory

3) using a straight cut rather than spur(angle) cut primary gear-improves reliability

It could very well be a case of interpretation-wouldn't be the first time, and rules dominated organizations sometimes like to stir the pot, let everyone know they're watching-someone has to take the hit for that to work. See also Joe Gibbs Racing ;)

Someone should be fired. This is the 3rd time this year they have had him torn down to the crank and they always tear down a few of the top bikes. Stupid to try to get an advantage.

What's gonna piss Mat off more? The simple fact that his guys did this or the fact that some will now think that he has to cheat to beat Ben?

If you ain't cheat'n you're not trying hard enough. Oh, sorry, this isn't NASCAR, is it?

Now they're busting the AMA over "Why weren't all three Suzukis torn down to the crank? Why just pick on Mat?" and the AMA is basically going "er, um, yeah, we should have, don't know why we didn't, but it's NOT because Mat badmouthed DMG, definitely not because of that!!!" Because of the appeal, the AMA is being very tight-lipped.

Boy, I sure as hell wouldn't want to be sharing any space with Mladin right now...

No Slap, I thought thats the airlines modus operandi.....I wonder if Matts planes get the once over...do lawyers ever work on their own bikes ?? Sorry for the digression...back to the racin' then....

Several websites have posted speculation that DMG/AMA specifically targeted the Suzuki team due to the current fights among Roger Edmonson, Mel Harris, and Ray Blank. If a Honda had been on the podium, they would have torn it down, too as a :assassin: gesture to Ray Blank of Honda.

It is an absolute embarrassment for US road racing to have us all stand by and watch a bunch of men stand around pissing on each other's shoes. When they meet, someone should inquire if there is an Adult in the room?

I'd personally be glad to see Roger revert to being the CZAR of CCS. Amateur racing deserves to be headed by an professional amateur. Roger fills the bill!
