Doing a little online helmet shopping lately and I noticed some really deep discounts on RF1200 helmets. Selling from $330 to $350.

Is this a sign that they are about to be replaced by a newer model? Or is it a sign that the RF1200 is just not that popular?

I'm currently using an RF1100 that is probably past it's use by date.

Any opinions on the RF1200?

I guess they are trying to move old inventory. Shoei just released some new paint schemes in the RF1200. Dedicated TC-5 was one of the schemes just released this month.

Shoei shows 47 current variations of the RF 1200 so I'm guessing the discounts are on the discontinued color schemes. I've owned the X-11, X-12, Hornet DS, Hornet X2, RF 1000, RF 1100, and currently wearing a RF 1200. The RF 1200 is a great helmet with a lot of improvements over the RF 1100. If you find a non current RF 1200 with graphics you like, it looks like a good time to buy. The only down fall I've noticed and my opinion differs from CollingsBob above but I feel the venting is just a touch less aggressive on the 1200 vs the 1100. I've noticed the same slightly reduced venting with the Hornet DS vs newer Hornet X2 and the X-11 vs the newer X-12.
