As previously discussed, I need a replacement for the '03 I totalled and sent to a new home.

I was in Eugene, OR today to get a release to go back to work,(Collarbone much better), and I decided to drive on up to Sublimity, OR and check out a used 2010 a dealer had, plus they listed 3 2013's in stock, and turned out they just got a 2014 in.

It was a large dealership in a small town, they even had a seperate building full of the used bikes.

I had seen their pics of the '10 on Cycle Trader, and it only has 15K miles on it. I was pretty surprised to see how much wear and tear someone can get on a bike w/ 15k.

I took a test ride and felt it ran OK, but the steering was very heavy,(possible low air in front), and the rear shock and front forks clunked like crazy.

When I got back, I started looking more closely, and kept finding more things that bothered me.I tried to ignore the fact that it hadn't been cleaned for sale, but the tank was dented, there was oil dripping from under the front cowling, (maybe from a sloppy oil change? But still.), one of the upper fairing panels was cracked from a over-tightened screw, the Sargent seat didn't fit right and the cover was coming off, it had Chinese FZ mirrors that flopped around like crazy, and a few other things that I found with a cursory exam in poor light.

They were asking 10,499 for it and wouldn't budge. I looked at the 2014, and they wanted list $15,890. I looked at the 2013, and they wanted the same list as the 2014, except the "Demo" model, which was 14K.

Anyhow, I'm not in a hurry and I'm sure the right deal will happen.

Not picky, just an informed buyer. Surprising to hear the feedback about that dealer. I haven't any direct dealings with them, but had always heard they were willing to deal on both new and used iron...

Good luck with the search!

Maybe if I'd whipped out the checkbook, they would have worked with me, but I didn't get that feeling.

****, I hope nobody on here recognizes the 2010 that I described as theirs. If so, sorry!

Thanks, Niehart; Saw that on CycleTrader.

Knowing me, I'll probably end up buying a new one.

At first I didn't like the 2013 color, but it's growing on me. Hoping the 2014 drives down the prices a little.

I've seen some new 2011's listed, but their asking prices are still up there. Desert Valley in Prosser has a new 2011 reduced to $11,990.

I think the price on used Sport Touring bikes down here is overall lower. People here ride cruisers or sport bikes.

Also, in case you haven't heard about it, search tempest is an excellent way to put a big wand over a lot of ground.

When the 2014's hit any leftover 13 will be discounted. also the weather/time is on your side. As stated earlier patience is your friend. good luck with search.

I looked at a 2010 with 6600 miles in Pensacola, Fl that the asking price was $9000. It was still there a few days ago. Shipping is always an option. I ened up buying a 2013 with 2400 miles for $11.700. Keep shoppingfor that good deal.

Be patient, brother. Deals are starting to show up everywhere. Especially, here in Oregon, as the rainy season descends upon us. I have personally bought 3 different new bikes from the dealer you visited. If you keep a sharp eye out, you will not likely find anyone other than Motosport Hillsboro (I bought 3 new bikes here, also) that can and will compete with Power MotorSports, Sublimity in regards to pricing. They will deal......

I have a 2009 FJR 1300A with 9,500 miles for sale for $9,500. The motorcycle is in excellent condition, never down, always garaged. Bike has heated grips, Givi 55L trunk, added powerlet, sliders, Spencerized driver seat, and risers. Contact me if interested.
