Being rather dimensionally twerpish, I’ve found the stock Gen III windscreen to be about 90% perfect. But, since we’re always looking for something just a bit better I scored a Cee Bailey “Sport” screen; the smallest they make. Overall, the buying experience was excellent. Four days from order to delivery. Obviously packed with an eye to an inadvertent thermonuclear event. Superb build quality. Significant improvement in the coefficient of comfy from the wind blast. Problem is, it’s more windscreen than I need. Full-up, I’m looking through the screen about 1.5” below the top edge. And I can tell that full-down ain’t gonna cut it in the warmer months. I was thinking about lopping an inch or two off the top but that removal would all come out of the “reverse flip” portion of the screen.

So, anybody ever trim the top of a Cee Bailey screen and if so did it completely screw the aerodynamics?

Thanks in advance.

If you buy a CB shield (new), they will give you a "one-time" shorten or cut-down free of charge (you pay the one way shipping only). So order as tall as you think you can take and if it's too tall? Get 'er professionally whacked off!

Aha! Thanks much TS! I'll be on the horn to CB Monday morning.

Yes, I have had them cut their 15" one for the Gen 2 down shorter than that before shipping the first time. They do by order I think for the shorter shields anyway as they don't get ordered as often.

I currently have 5 windshields. I bought the 03 from Allrider with a LARGE V-Stream mounted in it and the small stocker rode home in my backpack. Later, Kaunajawage gave me another gen 1 screen, it was taller than mine (that made 3) I advertized here for a screen that was scratched and even broken, what I received was in nearly new condition so I could not, cut it down. (that made 4)

Now to the relevant part.

Still wanting a sporty, short shield I took a scrap of 1/8" flat Plexi, and cut one myself. (that made 5) I used the outer parts of the brace as the guides and made a radius curve from the center screw hole. The 1/8" was thin enough to flex through the proper radius. It turned out to be a great shield from a sportbike perspective. As for aerodynamics... well, there are none. It is almost like riding with the bare fairing only. There are no perfect things, there is only compromise.

I vote make your own from flat stock.

Tour-gigantic, uncool, comfortable quiet. Sport-tiny cool, windy noisy.

like the Army (sizes not counted)

5ton truck-uncool, soft, comfortable, quiet. Abrams tank, cool, hard, noisy, UNCOMFORTABLE
