Just sitting here, ridin' that NAFO Colorado SS1k over in my mind and being totally blown away, man :dribble:

Thanks for taking all of the time and any and all effort in exploring, ride testing, planning, etc , to make that wonderful ride happen! It was an tough ride that 1,000% worth the effort and was the highlight of my NAFO!

The thanks to the leaders of the NAFO can not be overstated!

I was amazed at the preparations and the work at the rally done by the organizers. With risk of leaving out names, I'll mention just a few.

I am convinced that someone glued Ignacio's palms to his laptop and buttocks to his seat! He was working on that machine day and night, giving up any opportunity even to ride.

Twowheelnut exerted his prodigious organizations and coordination skills, running the operation like a maestro over his orchestra. The pace and flow of the meet was about flawless due to his efforts.

I can't imagine the amount of time Warchild spent in the pre-planning stage enticing sponsors and swag from vendors for the drawings. His generosity in offering his technical knowledge is without bounds.

And Beeroux! If only he could getting over his shyness and taciturn nature and develop a sense of humor. :lol: Who was up into the night waiting for his carefully nurtured group of LD riders? Who designed most of the routes for those saddle sore burned buns iron butts? Yep. Beeroux!

I've left our a whole slew of folks like Ironmaiden, and I apologize, but I'm sure your names will be brought up in thanks.

I was a DNS for the SS1K but rode the route today - what a kick-*** beautiful route. I'm ready to sell my CA property and move to SW CO...

The only problem with the NAFO SS1K, is that there is a good chance I will never ride another SS1K that will be EVEN CLOSE to being as good. That route flat out KICKED ***. Thanks again to everyone who made it possible.

Following you guys locked in unison through Glenwood Canyon in the dark on our way back to the barn was watching a magical dance at 85mph, with glimpses of gigantic walls out of the corner of my eyes as we moved through the turns. A magnificent end for a great ride!

I simply can not believe that you guys did that ride in 18 hours! That was the most difficult, demanding SS1K I've ever done, and I am blown away by your riding ability. The number of posted 10 and 15 mph turns exceeded anything I've encountered before.

I rode a good part of the ride with Bob Vail, the two of us hooking up with Joe Hocky later on - and when we got back to the barn just before 4:00 AM - 23 hours, I expected to hear that a large number of the riders were still out there or DNF'd.

However - when I was told that a group came in at 18 hours - HOLY CRAP !!

My hat's off to you - Darn Good Job !!

GZ - Dude, you absolutely rock! What a mind blowing ride. I knew it wasn't going to be easy but DAYUM! I swear, you must have struck a deal with the weather gods. When my daughter asked me what the weather was like for the ride... Raining? Hot? Cold? I said yes, with HAIL thrown in for good measure! I think there was some gorgeous scenery but I'm not sure. :dntknw:

While beerme, Raven7 and I never once considered taking the alternate route, it was comforting to know we could if needed. It took some of the worry out of the ride. Something that also struck me as odd was our "run for the barn" (the last leg of the ride). It was along I70, in the wee hours of the morning, and after a full day of riding in the twistys.

Even the easy part wasn't easy!

The best reward a rider can give an RM is to kick the *** of the project by doing your individual best.

ALL of you, even the dude who did not DNF, but rather UGJ'd*, did your very best and came up with a ride of a lifetime.

My hats off to YOU ALL for making not only myself, but this entire community very proud. I'm not sure how many other Owners Groups would even conceive something like this, much less execute it en masse.

No surprise to me that this was an awesome ride ....GZ has a great ability to throw unique and fun stuff out there. And, ...this one appears to be off-the-charts!!!

Congrat's to all who participated in this! What an awesome ride to test yourself and have some fun. Big kudos to all!!! Wish I would have been there!

Just had to say thanks for the work to put the ride on. It was fun riding roads that I have already ridden with another goal in mind instead of just riding them for the fun of it. Oh wait it was still fun.

The Fantastic Four - I like that!! It was good riding you - HYCLE, James and Protondecay. Sitting here back in Indiana with not a twisty in sight - sigh.

I'll admit I didnt know how this was going to go with all riders leaving at the same time. My first thought as we left the Marriott, was that this is going to break out into a race or at the very least a very fast paced ride.

As we went up to MT Evans, I was behind TriggerT and one other rider, TriggerT bobbled and made a premature left turn a few miles before the actual turn. I went on ahead, and lucky for me it was just about getting light enough to see past the headlights. So on the gas, thru the paved motocross section (that was actually fun). I got a little nervous as I got above tree line and I couldnt see anybody coming from behind. Then a headlight appears and closes on me pretty quick, its Raven7, and at the pace he was going he caught me before I got to the top.

We take our photos, load up and get going. Now everyones in site, either at the top or close to it.

Its daylight now and I feel pretty good, butterflys are gone and I'm ready to ride.

Throught the next several hours four of us ride together, TriggerT, Raven7, me and I dont know who the other rider was. The pace we ran was fast.

And here was were TriggerT schooled us virgins, at the next several mandatory stops, even though I was there before him on a few, he would ride up, take care of business and be gone before I knew it. And when riding as fast a pace as we were, when he left the stop 2-3 minutes before I did, it would take 30 to 40 minutes or more to catch back up.

I was learning fast.

We lost our 4th rider somewhere before Durango.

On the Million Dollar hiway, things got a little confusing trying to get around the road construction. TriggerT found a detour, I followed suit and Raven7 went to Cortez CO. (maybe he will post up and explain that to us).

If it hadnt been for that slight little bobble, I think Raven7 would have rode in to Golden with TriggerT and myself at the 18 hour mark.

The last couple hundred miles went alot quicker riding with Tim, than it would have by myself. I think the tendency would have been to slow down, but riding together we keep the pace fairly strong.

This was even more fun than I thought it was going to be, I never really got tired until about half way back on I-70.

During the ride, I wondered how a SS1000 might work at the regional level, for me the SFO.

Now that I'm back at a machine, gotta thank ya for putting this thing together. I had a great ride even though I took the alternate route home. The alternate room 105 in the parking lot Saturday night was way too much fun too. When I set my mind to this I kind of knew what to expect since I'd ridden about half the roads previously on the bike. The other quarter I'd been out on in a cage. The other quarter I was lookin' forward too! Primo route!! Ya kind of rattled me at the riders meeting though, I have to be honest. Geez, if it took you almost full time to do it I was in the *******. Worked out good though and I certainly learned a few things about doing the long cruise. I've done them before, but not on a time frame. And congrats to everyone else who was went along for the ride!! James (from Florida) and I had a killer screamin' session down 149 on the way to Lake City!! Way cool road! That was before the t-storm kicked in. At any rate, you've satiated my desire to do a few more of these. I knew there was a reason I fell for the FJR two years before I picked one up. Thanks again Dude and we'll see on the road somewhere...

I didn't mean to rattle anybody's cage. I had 3 hours off the bike, and horrendous conditions.

Ya'll had a LOT less rain to ride through, so you can now see how luck and conditions play a big role in this kind of riding.

Everybody really stepped up and did their very best. I'm so proud of you all and hopefully, you can see you did good too.

Congrats on a tough ride, you da MAN!
