Scooter, I completely understand that some one in your position probably isn't in "the loop" but, is there anyway at all for you to ask a guy who might know a guy about the possibility of the GenIII AE version coming to the US? Pleeeaaassseee!!! :)

That would be telling.

That would mean that Greg would need to extract some top secret information from his friends within Yammie's inner circle, but Greg doesn't have any...

Time for such things

The darkside strikes again.

The guys with AEs love them, but the dealers had to pretty much dump them to get rid of them. As long as the dealers can say, "Hell, no, not THAT **** again!" we probably won't see them here....

I don't know why Yamaha doesn't just PDF PDP (Oops...lol)them like they did the first couple rounds of FJR's. Make the deposit non-refundable for any reason and let the people that want them have them. Then, no stress on the dealers, and the AE guys get what they want. OR, you guys can go buy one of the new Honda atrocities with the automatic transmission...Like my '73 Buick.

PdP but yeah. That would work if they had the tooling and were selling them everywhere but in the US. If not, then the cost to ramp up unknown production would probably be a disincentive.

Spot on!

I still think the AE was the best invention since displaying hookers in glass window-showcases ...in Amsterdam. So again, what Europe has we don't.

Great invention once you get use to it.

I agree... with both statements. I really liked my '08AE and would have bought the electronic clutch version of the '14ES it was available here, but alas, it is a Europe only product.

Probably has to be certified separately from the "normal" bikes.... Expensive.

So what you need to do is go to France and buy one, then bring it home.

I used France on purpose, since they have the restricted power, so you don't get in over your head!!!! :p

Thanks, Walt. You're such a giver! I'd send you a big "**** You" emoticon but, I'm on the road and my iPhone doesn't have those on this forum. Use your imagination! Kisses....... :)

Here dude you can send this to Walt: :****: Don't say I never did anything for you.

If they would use a clutch lever with a potentiometer and allow it to override, they could sell it to people that didn't specifically want an AE

Dunno 'bout that; wouldn't say I love mine more than my old standard shift. They do have their advantages and disadvantages.

Yamaha shoulda advertised 'em as "speed shifters" cuz that's basically what they are.
