Side Case Mod - 5 minutes of genius

Saw this mod on someone's site some time ago and thought it was brilliant. And it is. Lid stays level while open and stuff doesn't roll out of the left case while on the side stand now.

Pull 2 torx screws, change the wrap point of the lid keeper from the left pin to the right, shortening it just a tad. Reattach. You are done. Result below. No permanent change.

Great idea, has been around quite a while.

Not necessary to remove the torx screws...just rewrap the strap and all's well!

I tried finessing the cord out and found it faster to remove the thing. The cord on my '08 is pretty stiff and didn't want to pop off easily.

I never understood why Yamaha would design a side case that opens, more or less, in the middle. It makes no sense. An opening on the top or closer to the edge of the case would make more sense. With these ones, about 1/3 of the volume is in the lid.

+1, just re-wrapped mine about 2 years ago...just the right amount of open when bike's on the sidestand.
