I remember seeing a post somewhere regarding enalrging the foot of the side stand to prevent it from sinking into soft terrain. I tried a google search to no avail. This came to mind after seeing a very nice product for BMWs at the IMS in D.C. last week Wunderlich side stand enlarger Does anyone know of a similar product for FJRs? I am not interested in a squashed soda can, titanium plate from aerostich, or anything else that you have to put down every time and line up. I once dumped my 02 FZ-1 due to the side stand sinking into apparently firm ground.

The Wunderlich concept isn't a bad idea, as you could tap three or four screws into a piece of plate, size and shape of your choosing. The heads of the screws would hold it to your kickstand...... the Gen2 kickstand is not flat on the bottom, so there is a small challenge there that could be solved with a small washer at each screw location.

The Touratech is good, but a little spendy for my liking.

Well, I was going to post something up this week sometime but since the subject came up now I might as well mention it. I am in the process of making some what I call for now Kick-Pads. In fact the machine is running as we speek. I even tried it out today while I went for a ride.

New FJR Item from WynPro

Will Post in Vendor offers later with details.

What's wrong with something like this chucked in your tank bag?
What's wrong with it?

1) it's not shiny.

2) it's not shiny.

3) we like shiny farkles.

4) it's not shiny.

All show no go. That's my motto.

PS: I ordered one from 08FJR4ME. Couldn't resist!!! :hyper:

My concerns would be that it not be too thick. The FJR stands pretty straight upright compared too most other bikes I've owned. In fact I almost always look for a parking spot that is lower on the left for that very reason. It's already cost me a new upper right fairing, and a very embarassed wifey.

On level solid ground or asphalt I don't think sinking will be an issue and if you add much of anything underneath you're gonna risk it being awful easy to knock over, especially if it's the slightest bit high on the left. I would like to see a little larger foot plate but myself, I'll definately shorten the bottom by at least as much as a plate adds if not just a little more.

In short I'd buy anything that provided more surface, stayed attached, but it can't add more length.

I raised the rear of my 2008 an 1"1/4 with shorter dogbones now it really tips. I have been looking for a way to lengthen the kick stand. I would buy one of these from you if you made more than one. I could possible bolt a thicker shim under it to lengthen the stand an 1" or so. Eric

This is a picture of the linked item.

That is the manual deployment model, like these.

The WynPro model is automatic, always there when you put the stand down and always stowed when the stand is up. The only issue I see is that the aluminum won't shower sparks. Dave needs to put a threaded insert on the side of the foot for titanium or steel spark stubs to screw into

Click on the photos they're linked to the sellers web site, Aerostich is carrying them also. I'm not buying one until they make a dead deer model.

Speaking of side stands:

This guy has an elderly father and does his best to take care of him until the burden just gets too big. As a a last resort, he gets his dad into a nursing home. Feeling guilty and protective he checks on him every day. After about a week he asks his dad how they are treating him.

His father says things are going quite well. Food isn't bad. Nurses seem nice enough. Every day he gets his vitamins after breakfast and his Viagra at night before bed time.

What! What the hell are they giving you Viagra for? The son is mad and stomps out to the nurses station for some answers. He sees the head nurse and demands an explanation. Why is my father getting Viagra at night? What is going on in this place?

The nurse reasures the guy there is nothing unusual going on. It is for his safety.

For his safety, what do you mean?

The nurse explains. We give all the male patients Viagra before bed time, it keeps them from rolling out of bed and falling on the floor.
