I wish I could think of something witty to put her
Now that I've got my first 100 miles in on my new (to me) FJR, it was time to find the indicated top speed. Of course I am a professional driver on a closed course, and as I was sliding past the buck and a half mark and my right side visor (the part you can adjust to inner/outer position) came off. At first I had no idea what was happening. It lifted my leg off the peg, I think because it pushed my knee out into the wind before flying away. Because I never saw it, I thought I had hit something in the road, or maybe a big bird, but figured out what it was when I caught it landing in the mirror.
A search here turned up a couple of threads of this happening to a few other riders. No clear cures for preventing it from happening again. I will try tightening the clips to hold them on tighter, and take them off before I try topping it out again. I never run at those speeds so it's not like I'll ever have to worry about it...unless it starts happening at lower speeds. Hopefully the 2 part epoxy will hold the bolt centers back in it, as they got torn out when it departed. If not, I'll be picking up a new one. I don't imagine they come painted. Anyone know for sure?
