Sidi Adventure Gore-Tex Boots

I've been shopping around for a while for a new pair of riding boots after wearing out my old Oxtar Air-Tech XCR boots which have served me well. My search was for a boot that is comfortable but offered greater protection in the event of a get-off. A requirement was that it also be waterproof and breathable, offering wearability over a great variety of temperature and weather conditions.

After a great deal of reading, I talked myself into getting the Sidi Adventure Gore-Tex boots. There is a large amount of information out there, but the convincing thread came from advrider.com where several members posted up their experiences with these boots.

In looking at US vendors, everyone I found was stuck at or around $650 for these boots in the Gore-tex waterproof version. This is $250 more than the water resistant version also offered in the US. Utilizing the wonders of the modern world, I was able to source these boots from www.fc-moto.de for less than what most US vendors are asking for the non-waterproof version. EDITED: My total price, including shipping, was $368.77. You don't get an accurate total with this site until you complete the shipping information and they remove the VAT. Hopefully my international purchase doesn't bite me in the ass. When they arrive, I'll try to post-up my feedback.

First it's mention "combining Gor-Tex for warmth and water resistance"

Water Resistance doesn't sound waterproof to me.

Next "water-proof package" then "100% waterproof Gore-Tex liner"

Now that does sound water proof to me.

Which is it? water resistant or water proof

Its Sidi and it says waterproof...I would bet you could stand in a bathtub full of water with them on and your feet would stay dry. Water "resistant" isn't really relevant with Gortex. Denier has water resistant and waterproof, but I have never seen Gortex that is not waterproof.

There is no such thing as water proof. Everything will leak given enough time or pressure. I can say my Sidi On Road boots have never, ever, leaked even the smallest amount.

My price, including shipping, was $368.77. When you order and have it shipped to the USA, they do not add VAT. I do anticipate some sort of broker fee from DHL for the import though. We'll see what that surprise fee is.

Which is it? water resistant or water proof

The SIDI Adventure Rain boots are water resistant.

The SIDI Adventure Gore-Tex boots are waterproof.

That seams like a great find and good deal for the water proof version. Still a little too much coin for me right now so Sno-Seal on the Tech 7's will have to do for me right now. Enjoy your new boots and give us a review if you get a chance.

My Sidi Way Rain are listed as water-resistant, but was in Motorcycle Consumer News, in their 'Waterproof Touring Boots Compared' article.

They passed a five minute soak test and was checked the next morning to see if any moisture worked it's way to the inside. I feel the terms Water-Resistant and Water-Proof are not always being represented accurately in the motorcycle industry. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about my Sidi's. I purchased the boots with the understanding they are water-resistant, not water-proof and if they keep the water out then that's a bonus.

I have the Sidi Disco's from 3 years ago. I scrub the shit out of them, then cover them with that mink oil waterproof wax crap annually. I stay dry. They were around $250-$300 back then.

These boots are EXTREMELY comfortable both on and off the bike. These are what I wear both Dual Sporting and on the FJR when on long trips. The support is great, the protection is awesome. Walking around in them, once PROPERLY broken in was no problem. Then again, Im a boot guy. I hate shoes.

Looks like a very nice boot! I personally ride with the Sidi Canyon boots wrapped around my feet. They are awesome and 100% waterproof so far after 5 years of wear. If I ever upgrade I will consider these boots you mention.

International shipping seems to be taking forever.... the boots have been processed in the "export center" and are awaiting "forwarding to destination country".

I have no experience with these boots, but have with the Gore-Tex brand liners in others. I can tell ya, I won't buy another anything that I need to have a waterproof breathable lining unless it says gore-tex. I used to get boots once a yr for my job and always bought the waterproof type as they always saw double duty as motorcycle boots. The Gore-Tex liners never leaked, the others (dry-plus is one) always did at some point.

The boots I have now I actually got from Cabelas on sale some 2-3 yrs ago; gore-tex liner, never leaked and I've been in some real frog-floaters with 'em. They'll probable get replaced soon mainly as the bottoms are smooth and I have on occasion difficulty in situations where I need the grip to back up or similar.
