I have had my 09 for a couple of months, and both signal light lenses have shown varying degrees of internal condensation since very early on. I just took one light out to have a closer look and found that the moisture only resides in the outer chamber, between the clear lens and the amber lens. The inner chamber, where the bulb is, seems to be dry, along with the bulb contacts. The rubberized seal around the lens assembly, as well as the o-ring on the bulb, seem to be in good shape. On the back of the unit there is a port, covered by a couple of rubber boots, that vents to the space between the inner and outer lenses.

Anyone else see this before, and should I be concerned?

You're getting the humid air sucked in as the lights cool down after you shut them off. Dry everything out and put it back together, it will probably be ok for a while and eventually will repeat. Normal for your environment?

Have noticed such in both the signals and headlights now and then(maybe a dozen times over 3 years) depending on humidity/temp/bath time. But is usually gone by next ride.

More worried about ground connect's that havent caused me any trouble,.....YET??

Cheers

No worries completely normal. Depending on temperature, I'll see a little on really wet days or going in and out of fog. Several bikes up here exhibit the same behavior, so I haven't been concerned...yet.

Having your engine grenade because the cam chain tensioner **** the bed is a problem.

Having your electrical system cack out in the middle of Burnt Scrotum Arkansas because of a bad ground spider is a problem.

Having a saddlebag fall off because some $8hr 'mechanic' who didn't put loctite on the lock screws is a problem.

Having to shell out a **** load of cash because your exhaust valve seats are 'to good' in their job is a problem.

Having a little dew inside your lenses isn't a problem. Just ride your damn bike.

Yes, I admit, it was a little harsh, But you have to concede- it was kinda funny! It can be very hard sometimes to post honest questions without getting **** for it, even despite searches, or at least that's been my experience. Sometimes I think there are people who forget that many folks come here for good info and help as well as being possibly new/inexperienced or just not techno-savvy, such as myself!

So, with that said, FJRJuice, I've had the same issue but it has never created an electrical issue, which is what I think you were wanting to know. Others may have had a different experience, however.

Now, Surly- what was it you wanted to ask about the rain on your seat?!

Isn't that what sheepskins are for? :D

And be glad it's not a Harley, the gas gauge always gets fogged....not that it's readable, anyway...

I had the same thing happen to me last year in the summer here in Oz. I was riding up to QLD and in the warm rain for 2.5 days! one of the indicator lenses fogged up so I just pulled it out let it dry in the direct sun light for about an hour and never had a problem since....******* great ride the round trip clocked up 5500k'S

Cheers

No such thing as "condensation" inside a light. If you have water in there, you have a leak somewhere.....it's that simple.

Surly your a bad man....

Radiohowie you've obviously confused us with KIWI's mate....there the sheep shaggers...

Grumpy thanks for your insight.....
