Friday evening, after a 210 mile ride, I turned off the ignition and a silver flash caught my eye as it disappeared in front of the tank. I noticed one of the little silver covers over a handle bar hex nut was missing. I looked under the bike and, sure 'nuff, there it was on the ground.

Looking closer, it looks like it was attached w/ a very small spec of blue Locktite at the factory since I've not removed them to install risers yet.

Anyone have any suggestion to keep these little suckers from doing a repeat fall-off act?

I have read on the forum that someone put small dab of calk on them. Personally, i used a very small film of Elmers from my kids school backpack. They have stayed put for 3700 miles. I have had the caps off since the first app and they came off using a small eyeglasses screwdriver no muss no fuss.

I took mine off after a few fell off.. .. If you need one let me know. I will send one to you..I will never use them... :eek:

@smitty

Thanx for the offer but since I recovered the one that fell off, I have all I need. If they begin to fall off regularly, I'll just take them off and be done w/ it. Maybe someone else needs one (or more).

Mine are out, too. Pretty little buggers, but they are stored with the spares. Mine had some blue locktite, too. I even got a set of them with my D&D risers. They're all in storage.

i have some spray adhesive that is sort of a general-purpose adhesive. i give each a spritz with that before putting them back in place.

The 3-M 77 type is permanent, so don't use it.

That was me that wrote about using adhesive caulk to keep the caps in place. Haven't had one come off since. :)
