I'm heading up to Paradise this Friday (no, I'm not planning to blow myself up, silly :no2: ).

Where was I...? Oh yes, so I'm heading up to Paradise, California, which is in the foothills just east of Chico, which is in the valley just a little southeast of Nome (make that a lot). I need to be in Paradise by 4-ish, where I will spend the night and return Saturday. The forecast is for big bright-yellow balls.

I'm planning to head east from the Bay Area around the crack of dawn (i.e., around 11:30 am) to Hwy 49, and toodle my way up through the Gold Country, maybe checking out the Old West towns along the way, and stopping in Grass Valley to see who's there (maybe FJRob or my friend what's-her-name). On Saturday I'll be heading home late morning, maybe via the coast or the foothills or just thread my way through the valley.

I would enjoy the companionship of a fellow rider(s) in either or both directions if anyone out there also works for the public sector and gets Friday off in memory of somebodyorother. Because I am crashing  staying with my relatives, I am powerless to offer to my companion(s) a place to stay. So we will have to part at some point.

Qualifications include:

  1. Must ride a motorcycle (all bikes welcome  ).
  2. Must be willing to stop every hour on the hour whether needing to or not (prefer members of the CBA, not the IBNA*).
  3. Must not think it is possible to have to stop too often to go to the bathroom.
  4. Must think my jokes are funny, or at worst wry, or at very worst must bring along a loaf of wry rye. [Hint: that was a test.]
Candidates named Mike or Ray (or even Rich) will be given preference, but all names are welcome as long as not "Old Michael."

JB

P.S. Will actually head up a wee bit earlier than 11:30, but I wanted to scare off Old Michael.

Damn, was just about to send a pic of the Blackbird (FJR still needs battery and I haven't had time). I would enjoy a ride up 49 to Paradise and a loop back. I also qualified on all but the last condition, but when I have bread around, it's usually rye. :p

And then I looked at my calendar. SHIITE! I have to be in Tahoe City most of Friday for a bi-annual corporate meeting for a long time client. No way out of that.

Have a good and safe ride! AND WTF is up with someone wearing tennis shoes passing you on a right hander over a Dbl. Yellow line?!? (Ooops -- additional qualifications before an edit?)

Sorry you can't make it. It's been a long time.

Yeah, I edited out those parts, since I figured it wasn't in the spirit of FJR brother / sisterhood (besides, I'm already in the forum doghouse :( ). But the tennies and passing me over the DY uphill around a right-hander are real but not the same person.

Sorry Hans, couldn't resist :p No can do. Work doncha know.

Aside from a possible disqualifying association, I probably couldn't make the rendezvous in time after taking all those stops.

Hey, you're coming through my neck of the woods. I live near 49 off highway 50. Want to stop at my place (I'll let you use the bathroom  ) or meet somewhere close?

Duh, nevermind, you're probably going up 80... Let me know a convenient place to meet. Maybe Auburn?

Oh yes, so I'm heading up to Paradise, California
I've been to Paradise... in more ways than one. :D

You sure about that? Wouldn't want to be caught fraternizing with "other" riders. :p ;)

JB, from the turn this thread has taken, you should modify your title from

"Single Motorcyclist Seeks Companion 3/27/09"

to: "LONE(ly) Motorcyclist Seeking Companionship"

And, Tyler,

We have a weener!

Um, er, let me re-phrase that.... :puke:
On second thought, I don't meet qualification #4

All right, this thread has completely gone to hell. :( Feeger, plz PM me with your contact info. Let's hook up.

Anyone else available? Can't believe none of the Sacto crowd has proposed a return trip through the foothills.
