Anyone else available? Can't believe none of the Sacto crowd has proposed a return trip through the foothills.
What's your preference?

Would you prefer riding South on Hwy 49 to Angels Camp or Sonora and then head West through Stockton or Manteca and over the Altamont?

Hwy 49 South to Plymouth or Jackson, West through Sacramento and ride along the river delta through Rio Vista and 160 through Antioch?

West from Grass Valley on Hwy 20, to Clear Lake, down 29 to Calistoga, Silverado Trail to Napa?

I mean....so many options....

A lifeline from Mad. I knew I could count on you. :friends:

Maybe we meet in Marysville or Grass Valley between noon and 1 PM Saturday next and head south to Jackson or there-abouts. We could venture eastward along the way farther into the hills and explore some roads (depending on conditions).

Though I'll be heading up 49, you can't see too much of them thar beautiful hills IMHOP.

Hanselbahn

P.S. Paging FJRob. FJRob, please pick up the white green courtesy phone.... :telephone:

I'm about to head for the garage to install my rebuilt Wilbers, so I'll need to ride next weekend.

I propose to leave Elk Grove and head North on Hwy 49 and meet you, probably around Placerville(?). Or, if you're going to leave at 1 PM, I could just run up I-80 and meet you in Auburn around 1:30-2 (Ikeda's for lunch?).

From Auburn we could take Forest Hill Rd and wind down through Cool and take Hwy 193 through Georgetown to Placerville and get back on Hwy 49.

Or, depending on time, there's Fiddletown Rd. East from Plymouth (to R. on Shake Ridge, down to Volcano and over to Hwy 88) then Hwy 26 through West Point and back to Hwy 49 @ Mokulmne Hill (Passing Wilseyville...er...uhm...paging uberkul).

From San Andreas take Poole Station Rd. to Hwy 4 and head West toward the valley, riding Hwy 4 through Discovery Bay or over to I-5-205-580 toward home.

I'm likin' it! Let's move forward with the Auburn lunch scenario around 1PM at a location of your choice (what kind of furniture does Ikeda offer for lunch?--I prefer maple). Then we head south at our previously discussed leisurely pace, enjoying the scenery and each other's hail-fellow-well-met good company.

We can be miked up (no pun). Do you have text messaging BTW for ease of rendezvousing? I do.

Das radio ist kaput. You have my cell number and yes, texting.

Lunch at Ikeda's, 1:00 PM.

Ikeda's Tasty Burgers

13506 Lincoln Way

Auburn, CA

Coming from Grass Valley, when you get to Auburn, turn left on Bell Rd. for 2.8 miles, R. on to I-80 to the next ramp (Bowman Rd.??), L. under the highway and R. on the frontage Rd (Lincoln Way) 2/10 mile. Ikedas will be on the left.

If you miss Bowman Rd. you can take the Foresthill off ramp and go left through the 4 signals to L. on Lincoln.

Hmmmm -- sounds like a plan is coming together and I may be eating at Ikedas Saturday then. I doubt the FJR will be anything other than torn apart, though, so do I still have to post a pic of the Blackbird?

Coming from Grass Valley...
Thanks for organizing this, Mike. I'm actually coming from Paradise / Chico, so will come down 99 to whatsitcalled, then hang a left and go up to Auburn...
It might be faster to cut through Marysville to Hwy 65 into Roseville. Steve would know for sure. If you do come that way, be aware of the Wheatland PD's propensity for swelling the city coffers. The posted speed limit IS what they allow.

Also, I wired the tankbag/autocomm/radio after I installed the rebuilt shock so I'll have the 2-way with me.

Well, you could come for the friendship and the meal. You COULD ride the KLR....

I should never chime in on these things before checking the calendar. I'm unavailable all weekend long - wife is working and I'm Dadding. Daughter is not quite up for riding on the highway yet so....y'all have fun, now!

Sorry, Jerry. Well, not sorry.....many of us have "done" the Dad thing and understand. Maybe next time.

Well, the KLR hasn't run in a while. I need to pull the tank, the carb and clean out the pilot jet. It mostly just gets Battery Tender activity. Besides, it doesn't work for 2 up very well, and I have a surprise pillion from the past who likes to ride on the XX if the FJR isn't running. We'll be heading south with you guys after lunch, uncertain about where we'll turn around or loop back to Auburn.
